Unnecessarily Aesthetic Pedals

What I really need is ...
... a SuiteTwatter-Rep
ulsive that understands the Binary-Sibilance of power-filtering cable money-vaporators...

VAPORATORS? — Sir! My first sale was programmable De-Essers for a DAW's binary load lifter... very similar to your BS money-vaporators. You could say...
This is the
cable you need! A bargain, Sir, at only $75-per-metre!

Oh, if only people knew that we sometimes use orange extension cords as speaker cables in professional studios. We do cut the AC plugs off, of course - - we're not savages!

For 10 worthless points, find the orange power cords (I'm the asshole in the pic, some 20+ years ago) :

Gibson is a very interesting case where the quality versus price is concerned. Right now it's absurd - the prices, especially where I live, are just ridiculous. There is no correlation between price and quality.

BUT: I have a 2018ish Gibson VOS ES-335 which is an incredible guitar. I have compared it with Collings I-35s which cost even more (or at least did at the time) and although the Collings was better finished the Gibson felt and sounded better to me. Back in the '80s I had a couple of Matsumoku Epiphone Sheratons, both bought for about 1/3 of the price of a 335 at the time. Aust$500 in fact. They played just as well as the Gibson, were finished better, although in poly, and were great sounding guitars. They weren't perfect though, having a few flaws in the binding and kinda flimsy electronics. But great gigging guitars. However I sold them in time. I saw one of them for sale in a local shop recently and it really hadn't aged well. The way the finish had cracked and dented looked terrible and like plastic. It didn't play that well unfortunately. Probably with some attention from a decent luthier it would have been alright but it sure hadn't aged like a Gibson.

I have a couple of Gibsons bought used. They are rock solid, feel wonderful to play and I know they will age well. They're both "custom shop" so weren't cheap but weren't outrageous either as they were bought at a used price. Both are now worth considerably more than I paid for them! So I consider them a good buy.

We all find our own comfort levels with spending and what we think is important to us. We drive a Honda Civic because we couldn't care less about "prestige" in cars. We are surrounded by people all driving massive 4WDs which cost 5-10 times as much as our Honda. Madness! We live in an inner-city suburb with narrow streets which are well maintained. WTF does everyone need a huge 4WD for?? Because their neighbours have one.

I have a theory about human evolution. We're all gonna die.

@Feral Feline

I feel seen. I now challenge you to an essay-off.

How is it that we've gotten this far in the conversation that nobody's mentioned "Free The Tone" yet?

Ahem:

Them fools giving off some serious MMS vibes.
Wow. Had to double check if you weren't making something up here. That list comes as like one of those situations in life where you simply have to exaggerate when telling about an experience to bring across the same amount of feels like you did in real life; where 5 *things* doesn't feel right, and you have to increaser the number to 10 to make sure the listener "gets it".

But once a while you go to far (11?) and your story suddenly sucks,

It's beautiful. Its a cornucopia of bullshit. Ever providing, ever flowing, ever ready to tell you that they don't use buffers they use something else that has all the functional characteristics of a buffer but they're not going to call it a buffer because you wouldn't understand it. Just...*muah*. Chefs kiss.

Seriously, they had to add a footnote at the bottom to justify the fact that they were saying that the weight of the pedal enclosure has been designed for optimal toan. Cause, I mean, *your enclosure is grounded, dummy*. And ground is part of the circuit. *Obviously* it's going to have a *very* real iMpAcT oN tOaN.

The knobs. THE KNOBS! Goddammit. Oh fuck me.

I swear to God, how do you one up these guys? Like, I'm gonna make a business and claim that each pedal has been finely tuned by an expert practitioner of Reike. Fuckkk.

...
When Robert says he just uses Tadya-purchased caps, I relax and think "yeah, here's somebody that knows a thing or two and that's what I've been using." Great, no need to buy the Niche-ee-con caps, save a few bucks.
...

Nudder TING

If I were to hang out the —{Feral Feline Effects Is Open For Business}— shingle, I probably would get the Niche-Ee-Con or similar.
Stuff I build for me, whatever — STUFF I WOULD SELL... I don't want my customers sending me back pedals to fix while they complain online about the crap pedal they got from "FFFsuX".
