Last build this week.
I really like heavy distorted bass signal, so I searched for an bass overdrive.
The sound of Darkglass pedals is one of my favorite distorted bass overdrive sound so it's was an inner pressure to build this pedal.

I had some J201 from Fairchild I used for a mic preamp build years ago.
This pedal sounds nuts.
I'm still have to trick out the difference between the Attack switch but this pedal is fire.
Too bad, it has no DI Output, like the Darkglass BK7. This would be nuts.

I used Tayda's silver winkle enclosure. It turns out really nice. Unfortunately it's my second enclosure cause I made a big mistake with the fonts.
So I used the pedal for some weeks and ordered a new enclosure, cause I ordered the other pedals (shown in another threads) and was like. Let's make the enclosure again.

I wonder if there's enough room beside that footswitch for an XLR jack.....

I really think this will fit, but of course, I have lost my big stepped bit so a trip to Harbor Freight is imminent.

Want one?
First off the top of my head would have been C2C supersonic there was a ton of room in that case but I’m not taking that thing apart it was just to crazy of a build to begin with. 🤣. As someone who only plays into a computer interface I think this would be great for any preamp to have a balanced DI option especially something like your Valhalla pcb , here’s a wacky idea an unbalanced in to a stereo balanced out box with options for mono or stereo in.

Now that I think about it adding these to a signal splitter would be exactly that right?

Not it a 125B enclosure.
But 1590 should fit. But it's a total different layout.

Actually.... There's even a small bit of wiggle room. 😂

I'm not saying I'd particularly want an XLR poking out down by the footswitch like that, but it's doable.

It can be rotated so the PCB is facing upwards to avoid a larger PCB, I just turned it this way to show the clearance.

Pardon my sacrificial enclosure

The Obsidious is a freaking amazing bass drive. Dark glass gives much love to the low end. You should check out the Binary project over at AionFx, it combines the OD of the Obsidius with a square wave fuzz on a blend pot so you can get a mix of both as well as a clean blend.

@Robert yes please on that xlr board! Slap that on any of the cab sim projects baby!

If we could get a moment of silence for the sacrificial enclosure......

Which 1590?

1590N1 is equal to 125B.

That XLR connector would fit in a 1590LB. Nothing else would go in, but the XLR would fit.

1590A would fit, and maybe a small boost.
1590Y would be great, lots of height for the XLR and room for a simple preamp.
1590G would probably not fit, maybe on the face of it, but 1590G2 would likely work.

From there the 1590 series just keeps getting bigger...
1590B
1590B2
1590B3
1590N1
1590BB
1590BB2
1590BBS
1590Q
1590XX
1590DD
1590P1...

That's just the tip of the 1590 Hammond iceberg.

There's also the Trapezoids, the Octagon, the two BX-model loopers, and a several more too big for what I'd want on my pedalboard.

😜

Good shout out. Hadn't seen that offering yet. I've wanted to try out that circuit for a while even though I know it will probably be too much gain for my taste.
My sister’s fiance used an Alpha Omega 900 as his head for years, and now uses both an Alpha Omega Ultra and a Broughton SV-Pre as his preamps for recording. I’ve tried both of those rigs, and they both had a ton of gain on tap, but they also had a huge range of clean and low gain tones in the first half of the sweep. I’d definitely recommend giving it a go if it interests you.
