Breakroom overdrive

Hey all, quick question. I finished the breakroom overdrive. I didn’t have any Bs250p transistors so I replaced with the Bs170. But what I don’t understand is it seems having that transistor installed doesn’t even make a difference. If you take it out, the pedal still seems to work fine with no transistor there. Also there are two J201s installed with a trim pot. I’m assuming these are to be biased at around 4.50. Any help is appreciated

even though there are no build docs or schematic yet.. just looking at the picture of the pcb on the sales page it looks like the jfets are input and out put buffers and the mosfet is part of the clipping options...

According to the data sheet, that’s a p channel dmos, bs170 is an n channel cmos, so most likely, it isn’t clipping.

oh ok. That makes sense. I’m still trying to learn all this stuff. I have some 250s on order.
