Any new concerts you're looking forward to (formerly 2023 concerts)

I forgot to mention that I saw Kurt Rosenwinkel with Peter Bernstein at the Village Vanguard in NYC a few weeks ago. Amazing show. Kurt is an extremely melodic soloist. I was really impressed by both of their comping, their interplay was really tight. Very fun night!

Pallbearer sounds and played fucking great. The dual MATAMP rig the singer uses is soo simple and so good. Blood Incantation is fucking pompous bullshit. Left during the third song. Steel Panther level commercialized metal but with Nathan Explosion singing. I swear the solos were backing tracks.

I never got blood incantation either. Pallbearer has always been rad though.
Pallbearer is the reason we went.
BI sound like out of sync AI metal live. It's studio metal, at best. Some cool riffs here and there but 15 minutes of ambient drones before you walk on stage. Fuck off.
I'm guessing there's a ton of money behind their new album but I don't get why.

My feelings precisely. They’re an advertisement for an “extreme” metal band who will be next on the label roster.

I loved blood incantation. Wasn't interested in the prog synth album or the stuff they're doing now. I saw them a few times but the best was between starspawn and hidden history of the human race at St. Vitus Bar. They played with demilich and it was insanely good. Hidden history of the human race is untouchable

I think pallbearer played MDF the year I went but I wasn't interested. I went for bolt thrower and only bolt thrower 😤

I saw Rosenwinkel at a NAMM 2020 after show gig playing with Omar Hakim’s insane group. Best show I saw that year, and quite a few people were asking me who the hell those guys were. KR did a few sublimely Metheny-ish solos, but it was definitely his own thing.

My phone came unplugged on the way so I walked up with 3% battery. But here's the entrance and the view from the top of the venue, where the bar is. It opens up much wider once you progress a bit more. Nice downhill slope to the stage. Guessing 50-60ft wide and 150-180 ft deep. And yes. There are cave bathrooms.

The cave venue looks cool. I can't help but wonder how it will hold up to loud music over time. It's got to be reinforced or something, surely.
