What's everybody looking forward to seeing this summer? Or I guess the rest of the year. A friend and I were talking about going to Louder than Life in Louisville. My girlfriend and her friend wanted to go to the Punk in drublic fest in Columbus. I'm looking up some other bands I want to see and checking if they're touring sometime soon. Anybody else got any shows lined up?

A couple friends and I have got tickets to see Sigur Ro's backed by an orchestra in August- the excitement is pretty far beyond words!

So far I have tickets to see Joni Mitchell (I’m freaking out over that. I’m a huge huge huge fan and she’s possibly my biggest influence), Sparks at the Beacon, Ween at Pier 15, and a rescheduled Celebrating David Bowie show featuring Adrian Belew. I have a lot that I’m hoping to get tickets to, including Peter Frampton (he’s actually tied with Ween for the artist I’ve seen most), The Smile, Elvis Costello (when I go to the west coast to see Joni, he’s playing near there the night before), Leo Kottke (it’s the night I get back from the West Coast to see Joni though), and Les Claypool’s Frog Brigade

No plans 😭 but I'm hoping this is the year I get out to see some shows. Feb 2020 was the last time I saw a show. A lot of the venues here are closing and I'm too old to feel like going to house shows
You’re in CT, right? Some cool stuff coming up at College Street Music Hall. I saw Adrian Belew & Jerry Harrison there last month and it was a nice venue.

There’s also always cool stuff at the Cap in port Chester, which is just a stone’s throw from CT. Les Claypool on June 23rd and Adrian & Jerry on the 25th. Not really your jam, but Frampton is there July 23rd and 25th, and he’s always killer. I might hopefully make my way up to the cap for Claypool and Belew, and maybe again for one of the Frampton shows (I’ll probably only see him on LI though). George Clinton is bringing the P-Funk there on August 18, and that’s always an absurdly fun time.

I thought Frampton had retired from touring? Good to know he's still at it.

He had a “maybe” farewell tour in 2019 when he wasn’t sure about the progression of his disease. Each night he would close out the show saying something to the effect of “never say never— I might be back, playing for you here again”
Luckily the progression seems to have slowed (I also know that early in the COVID era that he was participating in some trials for experimental treatment, so maybe there was luck on that front) and he’s back to touring with the aptly titled “Never Say Never” tour.

Man or Astroman? ... One of the best live shows on the planet.
Cool, they are still around? I saw them in the 90ies, I think, let me google that .... oh, it was 1997 .... and I totally agree about their live show. I distinctly remember them, but no idea how the main act was (Toenut). Probably pretty boring 😆

I have tickets for BORIS in May and the MELVINS in June. Saw them both multiple times, especially the Melvins are a love affair and I always go and see them when they swing by.

I used to chill with a dude who would often brag about how his wife used to bang the bassist from the Melvins. It was kind of a weird flex.

I'm seeing this Afrobeat band Antibalas in a couple weeks. Been a while since I've seen anything that includes a horn section, so I'm pretty stoked about that.
Other than that I'm doing a lot of reliving my childhood/teenage years this year: Blink-182 in June, Death Cab for Cutie & The Postal Service and then Botch in October. 15 year old me would be PUMPED about all that haha. Almost as pumped as 33 year old me is.
