What’s up, meat bags! Time for another contest hosted by BuddytheReow and introducing Stickman as co-host. Reading the room as well as what’s going on outside of here we thought we should put together a little contest for your folks, but with some tweaks.
Given the current state of the economy and the way the orange guy is running things, there haven’t been a whole lot of build reports out there or parts/PCB ordering in the various threads. Either blame the orange guy, life getting in the way of one of our cooler hobbies, summertime here in the US, or you’re working on a more ambitious project, builds here have slowed to a crawl. Hopefully this will light a fire under yo butt!
The contest is simple: build us something. Anything guitar pedal oriented. There are no limitations on enclosure size, parts counts, external controls, or circuit type. The sky’s the limit!
Here’s the catch: anything you build MUST be done with parts already in your inventory. Search through that box of mystery parts, 100+ germaniums from the Ukraine, storage drawers, and baseball card holder binders for what you’d like to make and show it off for all to see here. If you’ve got a UV printed enclosure in your inventory currently you can use it. We don’t want anyone ordering parts here for this contest. This will be on the honor system.
Call me biased, but I enjoy circuit design and coming up with a “new” idea using circuit legos. Not everybody does, unfortunately. So, we’ve decided to combine the best of both worlds here: build us a stock/modified circuit or come up with your own!
An official submission must include a picture of your build (either in an enclosure including gutshots or on a breadboard/prototype platform), a schematic if the circuit is your own design (CAD oriented or have GOOD handwriting please), and a small writeup of the circuit or build process. Bonus points for a sound clip (especially if designed by you).
The contest starts now and your submission(s) must be received no later than September 15th. That’s 2 months from now. Plenty of time to put something together.
But wait, there’s more!
Now for something for all the meme-posting haters. Yea, I’m talking about you keyboard or smartphone jockeys throwing shade and busting balls in the name of “brotherhood”. You know who you are and you too can participate! In fact, we are encouraging it! The CATCH here is that in order to be a hater, you’ve got to be a player. You are not allowed to shit post or fire up your meme generators on this thread UNTIL you submit a build for this contest. You are only allowed to hate on anyone else here if they have submitted a build.
Don’t go apeshit with your memes. While we LOOOOVED IAIGF, those threads got out of hand and the whole thread got nuked. Twice. Pour some out for your IAIGF homies. No porn, homophobia, racism, politics (we already get enough of that outside of here), or anti-Robert or PPCB bashing. We want “brotherhood”, not people leaving the forums.
You’ve been warned so submit your build accordingly. It/you WILL get roasted.
Criteria for Judgement
We will look at your workmanship, schematic, neatness, attention to detail, solder skills, originality, etc. We will also look at how hateful you are (within reason).
PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to what Stickman and I think is the "Best in Show" and "Best Idea" for circuit design. A separate prize will also be awarded to the Best Hater in addition to receiving the title of “Player Hater of the Year”.

In terms of WHAT the prizes are, we, uh, aren’t 100% certain on that. We do have some communication going on behind the scenes.
