I happened to come up on the list about a month ago after about 6 years. I only got on the list out of curiosity and at this point I'm not interested in spending that much money on a pedal I can (and have) build myself

Imagine if you will that you came up on the king of tone waiting list. What would you do?

I got off the list last may I think. Was gonna buy it as a grad gift for myself this year, but didn’t have the funds. I’m gonna eventually get it for myself with the specs I want, hold onto it for a while, and then maybe sell it down the road if Mike fully retires it in a few years.

If I had spare cash to burn I guess I'd probably buy it and keep it, just so I could say I had one.

Buying it and flipping it is certainly an option but there are two on Reverb right now for $700. If you pay $335 with free shipping you'd profit around $300 after Reverb fees.... Not bad, but I'm not sure how fast they're actually selling?

I tend to make terrible investments that have no possibility of recovery, so seriously, don't take my advice. :ROFLMAO:

They're selling not quite every day.
$335 is a lot of money for me to sit on and the return is far worse than on tascams.

This is the main reason I'd want to buy one and keep it. Same reason I have a red dot nkt sunface that I bought brand new at not a silly price

There's a part of me that would see it through and buy it. But I don't know if there's any sort of gentleman 's agreement, or if it's just a wait-list/queue with no obligation: don't want it? No problem, it gets built to the next one in line.

So depending on context, I'd either get it and (either gift or sell to a friend, not a reverb stranger ), or nothing and abdicate.

To my understanding the way it works is that when you get to the top of the list, you get to buy it whenever you feel like it whether it be that week or in 2 more years

I said flip it—but what I’d do in your situation is just pass altogether if I wasn’t interested.

EDIT: I said explain in the comments.

Scalping has basically ruined concerts, so participating in that would make me feel kinda gross.

That being said, if you want to hang onto it and sell later if it’s no longer useful, that somehow feels different to me.

GET IT!

Compare it to your own build, maybe produce a video comparing the two (or just have a bunch of friends over for a comparison session).

Then you can sell it/gift it/trade it/whatever... and you'll be able to tell people you had one and your own build sounded as good as the original so you moved it on.

Always good to be able to compare a clone to an original with your own ears.

Hell, maybe you like it and keep it! 🤷‍♂️

If my name came up to purchase one I would definitely buy it, hi gain red side, original color, with 4 jacks. I'd try it out for a bit and compare it to my own build, then when I got bored I'd move it on - same as anything else. Only difference here is it's a guaranteed sale
