Built to the doc, except R7 which is reduced to 470r for more lower gain range, and R18 which is 18k because I didn't feel like digging out a 20k

This is a pretty rad take on the transistor Big Muff topology. Gets rid of the clipping diodes and third stage filtering, and has had the tone stack tweaked to be relatively flat. Nice range of distortion- from a light clangy dirt up to not quite a wall of heavy overdrive. The tone control isn't nearly as dramatic as a traditional Muff, but I see that as an advantage as it's whole range is usable

I throw in some turbo Rat toward the end- the first with every knob maxed, then my daily driver Rat

Boxed up in a Bud Box CU452 with some knobs I got from a Soviet surplus shop a while back

Be sure to give this one a go if you're looking for an alternative to the typical 4 transistor Muff, especially the Fuzz War mkii which I find this to be most similar to. It doesn't quite as wacky as the War, but it sounds amazing

I like these new(for you? new-to-me) stamped silver-cases aesthetic you've been doing.

The font, though seemingly a bit narrow, does indeed appear to be "Helvetica", so bonus points for that. 😸

Might pick up a couple of Hammond pseudo Bud-box equivalents (but with sloping tops!); and I've got a discount with MAE for my next order which may include the Helvitica.

They're not really new for me, but I've got a large haul of em (the big box Rat type shown here, and the bigger double size) I'm trying to use on more than just Rats.

I haven't used any of the newer Bud box in Hammond dimensions, but the NOS ones I've built with have been pretty awesome. They're thinner walls, but seem much stiffer. And they've got that nice oxidation and casting marks left on 🤘🏻
