Transistors for Sandblaster Fuzz

I'm building a Sandblaster Fuzz with one of Robert's lovely PCBs. I'm wondering about the transistors - I have some BC182Ls which I believe from my research are pretty much BC182Bs with a different pinout. So I'm wondering whether I should do the twisty leg thing with those or just use 2N3904s which seem to be in a similar HFE range. Any thoughts?

As for the BC107A and 2N3053 I have a 2N3903 at almost exactly the same HFE as listed for Q2 in the build docs and a 2N222A with the same HFE as listed for Q3. Will these work or will my pedal explode? And thoughts?

It will cost a silly amount to get the "correct" transistors at the moment.

Yep, straight to explosion.

As far as I can tell, it will probably be just fine for silicon transistors. There might be some small differences, but you don't strictly speaking need to aim for the exact same HFE values either, you could go for what you like the best. Sockets work well for that IME, although you will probably be just fine if you use what you planned to.

Well I have built it with a 2N3903, a 2N2222A and two BC182Ls. I did the twisty leg thing (to the transistors, not me) - should have probably used 2N3904s! But it works. Slightly underwhelmed with the sound of it solo so far but man it sounds amazing as a boost.

I'll go listen to some demos again ands see if mine sounds anything like the original.
