This isnāt the type of predictability and structure needed- half the participants are going to get triggered by this!Ok here you go "Hit record, play some shit, upload, done."
That would be awesome for higher functioning kids with the motor coordination for it. Iām sure there is a cross section of kids that even take to skating like fish to water. Especially the sensory seekerāsMy cousin created a non profit 20 years ago for Autism and it's still going strong around the world... She had a documentary on Netflix for years as well about her journey called "Heartchild".. Some of my family is in the movie too. Her charity is called ASkate. They hold clinics around the world to bring in Autistic kids for a weekend and teach them skateboarding for a day. It's volunteer run program and even pro skaters come out to the event and donate time. Especially when they are doing weekends in California.
This was only to toss the idea out to see how much interest it generated, give me a few days and I will make a more coherent post in a contest thread with clear and concise language ( the best I canK but I actually need a fully defined goal to get it done![]()
I started doing things like this a few years ago solely for awareness and there is also something cathartic about it for me, my wife and I have donated regularly to autism speaks. And even taken part in research groups at Stanford and OSU. But this contest is more about giving a little something back to this community (which seems to have a high population of the Autism community.@Paradox916
Rob, how will this effort benefit Autism? Just awareness or some kind of donation to your favorite autism charity?
Sounds like I'm being challenged to "dig deep" and put some knob labels on a pedal.......I started doing things like this a few years ago solely for awareness and there is also something cathartic about it for me, my wife and I have donated regularly to autism speaks. But this contest is more about giving a little something back to this community (which seems to have a high population of the Autism community.) While sharing stories , raising awareness, and just having some fun, I usually do a build and talk about some aspect of ASD that most people might not be aware of. One year it was Echolalia another I talked about synaptic pruning.. not sure what it will be this time but, mostly I just encourage people to step outside their comfort zone and challenge themselves to do something different or up your game in some way. We never know what we can accomplish until we dig deep.
