Your best and worst pedal hot takes? 🔥

And they have to be really hot so I can't touch'em for very long

What am I doing? Absolutely nothing. But I’m doing it really well.

Guitar player: "Pedal X is the greatest pedal evar. It's so dope. It's obviously well designed because it sounds great with my rig with all the knobs at noon and I don't ever have to adjust them."

What do you think about Pedal Y?

Guitar player: "It sounds awesome, but it's not as good as Pedal X."

Why is that?

Guitar player: "Pedal X has more knobs."

Might be too many overwound pickups in general. I don't like overwound pickups.
I feel like 10 or 20 years ago every pickup was like 12-16k because they're metal and brutal and intense, but then people tried playing them thru a normal amp and that's where the mudbucker idea came from. I'm still surprised when I see vintage footage of bands playing old Les Pauls with PAFs and they sound bright like a telecaster - there's no mud there

Those 70's LP that sound like that have T-Tops in 'em

6–8k seems to be the sweet spot for me. Single coil or humbucker, surprisingly. I'm not sure that would hold true for filtertreons, jazzmaster pickups, etc.
