A couple of Range-y masters…

Had these two Aion boards sitting around for quite a while. Finally wrapped them up.

This the Ceres (aka Catalinbread Sabbra): Rangemaster + plus Laney Supergroup ‘ampinabox’.

Features the Northern Harrier, an excellent bird of prey, found throughout North America. If you see something raptor-like cruising low over a field, there’s a good chance it’s this guy.

Initially I got the optional 18V 3PDT board from Aion. Then I thought it’d be cool to have a 9/18V switch. Didn’t seem like it warranted an external control, so I was trying to figure out some scheme involving a floating toggle or some such. Then I discovered the much tidier PPCB option https://www.pedalpcb.com/product/3pdt-chargepump/ and there was that sorted nicely!

Gaia mkII (Catalinbread Galileo II) up next. This is Rangemaster + AC30.

This one features an Osprey. Famous fish-grabbing guy, found world-wide!

Got lucky on this one and the Volume pot lined up to where I could solder straight to the board. Saved me a little bit of offboard wiring and now the PCB’s not floating. Yay!
Eagle-eyed viewers will notice I lightly toasted that one cap while I was doing the Tone pot wiring. Been a while since I did that 😬 But I tested it, and it seems to still be Farad-ing like a a champ, so I left it in.

Need to spend some more time playing both of these. Haven’t magically started playing like Iommi or May yet, maybe that’s on the 18V… 🤔

Thanks very much! :)

In real life, I am but a lowly electrician ;)
Just like to doodle, and solder, in my spare time.
Very cool. The illustrations themselves are great, but I love how you’ve clearly developed your own style. I’m sure part of it is practical for etching but that blocky angular style is great on its own IMO. It reminds me of cel shaded video games or animated movies.
