Can't dime the volume or sustain or it squeals like a banshee. I think having all the offboard wiring doesnt help.
that's a bummer.
should at least be able to dime the volume.
simply having offboard wiring isn't always the default culprit.
i would recommend trying a star ground arrangement - specifically at the input jack sleeve.
the input jack sleeve is good central node/place for this as it has direct continuity to the enclosure for maximum shielding effect (also make sure the jack contact point on/around the input/output jack enclosure holes are filed / metal bare).
suggestions with this:
- instead of sending the volume pin 1 back to the board (which goes to ground anyway) - try sending it back direct to the 'star ground'/central ground node (input jack sleeve). -> sometimes the ground routes on vero layouts are less than ideal and can cause these sort of problems.
- DC jack (-) - same thing.
- Board ground - same thing.
- FSw ground - same thing.
send them all to the input jack sleeve.
having said of all that,
from what i can see, it looks like there already is a sort of central ground node at the various ground planes/points on the FSw board, and maybe this is already good enough like this.... but idk, maybe not...being unable to dime volume seems resolvable...
(only making these suggestions if this is something you really want to resolve, otherwise feel free to ignore me lol)
Plus I suck at making it nice and neat.
nah this is pretty good, keep it up. solid core helps too.
