There are so many pedals on this site that are works of art in many different ways. I love looking at all of them as it helps to inspire me as well as push me to do better. But there's a learning process, and sometimes it's good to see the ugly side of things as well to help us remember those mistakes we made in the past as well as where we started.
I had the first pedal I'd ever made - a Woolly Mammoth clone that I put together towards the end of 2012 - in my little workspace the other day and decided to open it up and take a look inside. I knew it wasn't pretty, but holy wow! I remember putting this thing together in an afternoon with zero experience (other than some basic soldering experience) and the damn thing fired up on the first go, even looking like this!
This thing was gigged for a couple of years and took some abuse, but it always worked - and still does - like a charm! If I ever get back to gigging it'll be on my board for sure.
Just thought I'd share some of the ugly in the hopes of seeing some other rats nests out there. I'll keep this pedal forever since it was my first, and I'll always love it no matter how ugly it is.
I kind of dig the Sharpie look, though...
