So a while back I posted about a guitar I built and some of my uninteresting story… now to the next installment …. One of the employees I supervise, his wife was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. It brought me back to 2015 when my wife went through her battle with breast cancer. We were very fortunate to have excellent care. And while there still maybe be some day to day struggles she’s doing great. We’ve been big supporters of bcrf and play for pink charities ever since. I wanted to bring my fondness for building and try to do something bigger. I built three “basic”pedals with the same theme. My hope is that I sell these for a significant profit and donate it all to bcrf. I would obviously be transparent in how much I spent on parts and pieces and show the donation. My goal isn’t to make anything on this and to maximize my donation. I thought it would be a cool way to show support while still getting something fun.

I’m looking for any advise on reverb or ways to grow this idea. There are a lot of heavy hitters on this site. Or maybe it’s just not a good idea….

I don't have any advice and hope it goes well, awesome idea and energy. Point that out, anyone who thinks your just fooling around doesn't get it anyway. Hope there will be many good people into it.

Same, I'm not a seller but I'm into what you're doing. Those look great, charitable association adds value for me. I'd happily overpay 50-100 bucks for an attractive limited edition box that went to charity. Thumbs up.

No idea how to go about selling them, but I must say those look great and they’re going to a great cause! Just be careful, it’s been documented that the SGK foundation isn’t shy to litigation against other charitable uses of the pink ribbon image. You should be fine as is, but definitely don’t say anything resembling their “for the cause” slogan in your listing.

Actually I just thought of something— what if you had an auction type thing on Instagram, since that seems to get more money than of you just set a price. You could contact one of the more prominent guitar (pedaltrain? Pushieen?) to see if they’d be willing to partner to bring it to a wider audience and raise more money.

The ribbon is a free image from vectoreezy so as long as I say that in the listing or wherever it’s safe.

I reached out to reverb but never got a response back I guess they were busy pushing holiday crap on Etsy…I’m not familiar with instagram or any Social media for that matter… but I like the idea of working with a larger organization. Thanks for the feedback!

I think this is a great convergence! Is the idea to sell many of these or is it a limited set?

Kind of both, I did this initial set as a proof of concept. I would like ideally to do a run of 60 a year and sell them, my fear is that the market is flooded and their is nothing “special” about the ones I build. Their not a unique circuit, their made by some guy in his basement not jhs, wambler, Strymon, death by audio….. yes there is a story and there is support of a great cause but I question longevity and being able to sell that many without a name associated with it.

All of those mentioned did or do operate from their basement, but I understand your concern. I know I've mentioned this a few times, but a few months ago a guy buzzed through here with an idea to sell fart pedals via KickStarter. I was intrigued, not with the pedal so much but with the process and very curious what the result might be. I bought one so I could "hitch a ride" with Steve (the fart fella) and follow his progress. He has sent many updates, and reached his initial goal and, set another and reached it as well. Maybe that's not your path, but it does prove that your concept could easily gain momentum, given the right approach -regardless of brand familiarity.
I'd be honored to buy the first set if you do decide to pursue this.

Thank you so much for the support @fig and everyone else! This is definitely something I’m going to be pursuing! A. I can turn something small into something larger. B. I find a quantum of solace in it.

So… turns out after my wife saw them she wants them…. Not sure what she will do with them maybe a mid-priced paper weight… but I cannot say no.

Started designing the next set with the actual Play For P.I.N.K. Ribbon and font. Think might try and do a crash course in illustrator so I can have tayda print them, that way you don’t have my flaws and fingerprints in the clear coat.

I wonder if @PedalPCB might entertain doing a small run of the three pcbs in pink?
