I have and use the Irwin ones. Yes they are more expensive but they last long. Even with the non brand name ones I make sure to drill a pilot hole. And if the enclosure is not finished I will use some sort of lubricant. That and go slow, otherwise i tend to gild the aluminum to the bit.
I have this one
Transistor Tester, DROK Mosfet... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MS1FOYM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Used it for jfets, transistors, and resistors so far.
I have
A tester from amazon and I made a tester from rullywow or madbean and they correspond to each other. I've build two nom-nom phasers from madbean which quad sets that I matched myself.
I haven't tried useding matches ones in other pedals but I've wondered about it just like you..
I like the abyss so much that I bought another to build for my smaller pedal board. I'll be finishing the Photon Vibe soon, we'll see if that replaces that. I'm guessing it will.
Looking at the schematic r23 is 4.7k and r25 is 47k and r24 is 100k and r26 is 100ohm. I could see myself swapping or getting some of those messed up, so maybe start checking there?
I've been running mine for a couple practices now and am still working. Do you have the intensity cranked? I'm wondering if you have a resistor wrong leading to that led that is causing it to get more voltage and burn out?
yup I hit it with clear coat and then baked in a toaster oven at just over 200F for 20mins or so. It did dull out the colors a bit, but it'll keep which is the important part.
