    Shrapnel Overdrive - LED footprint?

Just a gentle reminder - the Shrapnel OD build doc (3/4/22) still lists D2 & D3 as 3mm blue LEDs, while the PCB says 5mm LEDs. Seeing the inconsistency, I pulled out my laptop & searched the Forum (and found this thread) to determine which was correct. So it would be nice to update the build doc...

    Even more new Tayda colors!

Wow, lucky you! My order was ~$120, and shipping/tariffs added ~$33. It won't break the bank, of course. But it's annoying knowing that few jobs will ever come to the US because of this, so the tariffs really are just a new revenue source to justify tax cuts for the ultra rich.

    Even more new Tayda colors!

It does really depend on which color you choose, they are definitely catching up after the pre-tariff crunch. My last order (Sept 1) took a week total to get to me, much faster than my orders in July/August. You can check with them (contact link on their website) to see whether your desired...

This Week on the Breadboard: The Lingonberry OD

By the way, the TLC072 (072 not 272) is another superb dual opamp like the TLC2272 - just noting. Very low voltage noise, extremely low current noise, very high input impedance, and designed for single sided supply.

    Footswitch Issue

@joelorigo - hmm, any chance that one of the wires (or the solder) to the utility board accidentally touches the metallic part of the stompswitch's body, so that causes the short to ground when the stompswitch is in place in the enclosure? It looks like your jacks do ground the enclosure...

Very high soldering temperatures and components/boards

Is this the right Weller solder - Sn99.3Cu0.6Ni0.05? Here's the datasheet. Melting point is ~228°C... Something is definitely way off. https://fotronic.asset.akeneo.cloud/pdfs/media/t0051404899_datasheet.pdf That you are burning the board suggests that your iron is truly super hot, though...

This Week on the Breadboard: The Lingonberry OD

I definitely agree re: dirtboxlayouts - and frankly think it's good policy for all stripboard layouts to take the time to painstakingly go through the schematic and make sure every connection between components is correct in the vero layout. And yes, from reading Kanengomibako's blog (w/ the...

This Week on the Breadboard: The Lingonberry OD

@Chuck D. Bones - thanks! There's a possibly unverified vero layout of the original schematic (not Chuck's) here: (top labels it as unverified, but last comment says it works except for one cap orientation - caveat emptor)...

    Jlcpcb and tariffs

Exactly. Let's look at some cases in point. The Federal Reserve did a very detailed analysis of Trump's aluminum tariffs from 2016-2020, looking at the impact on manufacturing and skilled American jobs. America imports a lot of aluminum from Canada. The reason why is that aluminum takes a...

Mad Bean's Holy Roller low output level

There is a vero design of it here: https://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2016/02/madbean-holy-roller-baja-optical-limiter.html

Trimpots: single-turn vs multi-turn, drift over time?

I've used both - I use the multi-turn where tuning requires finer adjustment. Just get the cermet ones, they're much more stable than cheaper carbon ones. https://nolelc.com/the-difference-between-carbon-film-and-conductive-plastic-potentiometers/ I haven't experienced motion or drift...

Fuchsia Fuzz (BJFE / Bearfoot FX Pink Purple Fuzz)

I have a huge backlog of PCBs to build, so I made designs for 20+ boxes and sent design SVGs to a company I found on Etsy. There were a handful of companies that offered UV printed vinyl stickers, and I decided to try out a Hong Kong vendor named Herper Tailor. I chose them in part because of...

Fuchsia Fuzz (BJFE / Bearfoot FX Pink Purple Fuzz)

The PPCB PCB gives you the choice of either nature or bass+treble. Nothing against nature (which is a combined bass/treble tone control), I just opted for separate bass and treble instead.

    Re: Muffinator

And the part #s in the Muffin Fuzz carry over to the Muffinator as well (except for the additional diodes which Chuck already mentioned). Also, check out this post by @Robert for the switch orientations: https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/missing-build-docs-schematics.3784/page-70#post-271717
