Maybe that circular thing in the middle isn't a transformer, but instead is a hamster wheel-driven power supply. Just joking...

    A Hive-Mind Quandary on J201 JFETs

They are only going to be close if they're measured under close to the same conditions - e.g., same bias current or voltage, etc.

    First Build Report: Peachtree Overdrive

Hmm, I just stumbled upon this thread, so I'll make a late addition... A very straightforward configuration in MOSFET clipping is used in the CULT Ray, out of Japan. (I.e., no diodes are in series w/ the 2N7000 in the opamp's feedback loops.) The schematic is here (turn on Japanese translation...

CowPoker Board (Chuck D. Bones - Mosfet Overdrive)

Does anyone have either a leftover PCB or a Vero layout design that they are willing to share for the MOSFET Driver Redux?

Vactrols from ali express? These can’t be “good”

Why take the risk w/ AliExpress? If your completed pedal doesn't sound right, then you won't know if it's miswired or a bad vactrol... For new quality vactrols, try: https://cabintechglobal.com/semi https://aionfx.com/components/...

    What's on the workbench?

@Robert - thanks, I sure didn't see that little SMD inductor!! So I am guessing that the toroidal choke in the original is for removing high frequencies from the 9V supply. Wow, that looks like Strymon does a very fancy build - high quality pots, what looks to be a relay, etc. Anyway, again...

    What's on the workbench?

@Robert - on the Stock Fuzz (Strymon Canoga) I am having some challenges locating any toroidal 680uH inductors of that size (looks like ~10mm OD in pic above), the ones I'm finding so far on Mouser are much larger, ~25-30mm OD. That thick copper wire suggests that I want low DCR, too. I do see...

What are the tunable parameters for the Unison Double Tracker? [ANSWERED!]

Good question, I'm not sure, but it's surely set by the FV-1 so check out the various docs at http://spinsemi.com/products.html Looking at the application notes (http://spinsemi.com/Products/appnotes/spn1001/AN-0001.pdf) the clock is normally set to 32767 Hz, and delays *appears* to be...

    2sk209g alternative?

I don't know about the 2SK209-G, but the 2SK209-GR is still available as an TO-236 SMD from Mouser. Not disagreeing w/ the other answers above, just noting...

    Canadian PCB Manufacturers?

Ah, so if you want custom PCB makers (like PCBWay, etc), then Dead End FX isn't in that market. But Dead End FX does make PCBs of guitar effects much like what PedalPCB does, and they do ship from Canada. www.deadendfx.com

Adding a transistor selector switch to a RangeFinder

You could always include bias resistor(s) in the switched transistor sub-network. The switched resistors could be all or only part of the total bias resistance, but are enough that both transistors are optimally biased.

What's up with Deadend FX? "Temporarily closed until further notice"

I see that Deadend FX's website says "Temporarily closed until further notice". Anybody know what's up? I don't want to pry, but ... I'm wondering if it's a financial issue (e.g., tariffs hurting them, etc.) or of a more personal reason (e.g., just needing a break or vacation). I have built at...

    Parts Storage Solutions

My storage solution consists of wood bins made from cut up scrap lumber and plywood, sorted by component type and value. For storing passive components, I use whatever small bags I have on hand - including a lot of reused baggies. For storing semiconductors, I use conductive baggies I bought for...
