Perf/proto board feels like the next step up in between PTP and actual PCB and it’s only as ugly as you make it. For me it’s easier to translate a schematic into perf than Vero but that’s just me and I may just be dumb that way. Perf also offers a little more stability over PTP

Let’s ask the question then what kind of pickup are you talking when you say “passive”, are we talking something like a contact/piezo/K&K, mic, or a standard wound guitar pickup?

Any slide style guitar without some dirt/fuzz is lacking. But if all he is looking for is more louder then just build him an LPB-1 or go super fancy and build an Equilux

You can plug the intelligent relay into the R1 pads either to add or break the clean. I think lifting pin 1 of the 4027 will remove the oct2 but someone needs to put eyes on the schematic besides me

Don’t give up. I highly recommend putting some time in to learn how to read a schematic and start applying that to small circuits. Once you get that down it can help you troubleshoot those 4 “duds” and get them working. Don’t assume that because the Ruby and Noisy Cricket are simple circuits...
