Start a thread in the troubleshooting section. You will get more help there instead of a dead thread. Make sure you post clear pictures of your board and wiring front and back.

Sounds like a good use case for an audio probe. That can help you find where in the circuit the noise is originating from, then you can focus on that component and any components attached to it

Are we talking ab one of the Fuzz face/sunface clones? Sundial would certainly suggest so. Can a fuzz face take 18v even with appropriate electros and what would you be hoping to gain from running at 18v?

I used a 1/4 TRS to XLR with my sludgehammer build with good results. I suppose it might look goofy, but it gets the job done. Stupid question, but is a ground lift switch as simple as disconnecting pin 1/ground of the xlr?

You’ve verified parts which is always the first step, now time to move on to reflowing your solder joints, then audio probe to isolate where the distortion might be coming from. Just for the fun of it, verify the pinouts on your transistors FYI, it is a pretty underwhelming effect in stock form

Never really thought ab it, and so long as you measure accurately it doesn’t matter the units, but out of curiosity, are PPCB drill templates measured in imperial or metric units? I tend to use metric since you get fewer trailing decimal points. @Robert ?

Just as a follow-up, this is a fully operational noise maker. After checking all traces from the pot removal fiasco, there was only the one that needed remediation. Oddly enough, all it took was flipping the vibrato switch and it fired right back up. I then remembered that it had done that to me...

She does seem to play a lot of Strat for her demos…… it’s not an unpleasant clipping and if you are using od anyways, meh?

Tested all the 2n7000 I had, all with more or less the same result. Can dial it out enough to be ok with single coils, but anything else is grit city. It’s not an unpleasant grit, just not what you want on a trem per se
