    DC jack question

For the “outie” Jack, either buy another nut to put on the inside or shim with washers to make it flush with the nut on the outside.

Pedal PCB Phase II not working! Any input is appreciated

Can’t see if you are using a TL072 or TL022 as your oscillator (sometimes tl022 work better). I’d first double and triple check component values in the oscillator as well as your soldering though as those are more likely candidates why the oscillator is not oscillating

Appetizer - Mods for Accurate 2555 Sounds

That makes sense. I was leaning on the fact my appetizer used 3mm LEDs and my Guvnor build (tonepad) used 5mm. Never thought to look at the tonal character difference. That said, my TP Guvnor is housed in a 1590bb along side a TS9 board as a dual pedal… so yes, I fully agree it works well...

    Caesar Chorus Drill Template

A trick I use to see that they are the right scale: print it out and lay the pcb over it. If it’s to scale, you can make all of the center pad for all pots align with the crosshairs for the center of the drill holes. If all center holes align with the template you are good otherwise your scale...

Appetizer - Mods for Accurate 2555 Sounds

Did you find the stock appetizer to be lower gain than the Guvnor? I have one of each, and side by side the Guvnor is significantly higher gain.

    Compoment alternatives - woodpecker trem

I always think of things the hard way: 22k+33k in series is 55k. 2x 55k in parallel would be 27.5k, and since carbon films always read a little low, you’d be likely sitting right at 27k. Your way is MUCH simpler!!

    Compoment alternatives - woodpecker trem

Measure them with your meter first. Pick the one with an actual value closest to the value you want (most carbon film resistors tend to read on the low side). Or use 4 of them in series/parallel and you’ll likely be dead on

    DC jack question

To make them work you’d be stuck with 3 options: 1- set it up as center positive and then flip the polarity on your power supply patch cables (pain in the ass!) 2- use insulated shoulder washers and an oversized hole to keep the metal using away from the enclosure (look up how the Cliff style...

    Rosamp SLO 30 build

As mentioned before, safety is #1. Can it be done as a first amp project? Absolutely! Would I recommend it? Personally, I always recommend a few lower gain builds first (tweed champ and deluxe, maybe a tweed bassman or plexi Marshall etc) to learn good lead dress habits/troubleshooting ground...

Should I let my pregnant wife help me populate PCBs?

You were probably better off as a programmer. I was working a UAT for a software implementation, and was working with a consultant, whose spouse is a well respected (#1 in her state) cardiologist (I believe)., and he said after taxes, insurances etc, he makes significantly more as a consultant...

    How to attach FV-1

Is a hot plate a good solution for removal? I know I’ve heard stories of folks using clothes irons upside down as an ad hoc hot plate

Should I let my pregnant wife help me populate PCBs?

I’ve heard particle size made a difference - so: filings bad/lead solder good. I know for the better part of my life, I never took any precautions. Now that I’m into the half century club, I may not worry about solder…but I still wash my hands and clean my work surface after handling….and when...

    Lead Solder Buzz

Dumb question, but where did you get your TL072 from? Not saying they would be likely to be counterfeit, but the possibility of them being from a bad run is always a possibility

XC Phase - where to get matched quad 2N5952 JFETs?

Not a bad price as well! Wouldn’t you need to adjust the Zener value to account for these having a different Vgs than the 2n5952? I bought a set a while back from “PedalParts and Kits” website. Although I think I paid a lot less than they are now (think I paid like $12 for the set, and they...
