    Micro XLR Hookups

I similarly hooked this up to the output buffer for an Empyrean Deluxe (op amp buffer, in that case).

A new-production BBD, with added features!

I have my 2nd version PCBs back, but I haven't populated to see, but my thoughts on these: 1. True. The SSI2100 can't handle signals past 5V, so splitting a +5V is reasonable. I suppose a rail-to-rail OpAmp could be substituted to provide a little more headroom 2. True, but I think this is...

Tayda Printing Instructions Web Site Updated

I don't think this has been mentioned, but Tayda release/updated their printing instructions massively last week. The new site includes far more information and directions on setting up and printing using either Illustrator or Affinity. It has detailed examples and directions for each step along...

Adding Parallel Out to Empyrean Deluxe

I did finish and it worked fine. Here is my build report for it: Oorang Airedale. I used a 1590XX case to get all of the jacks to fit - I am not that handy with tight spaces, and only wanted to keep top-mount jacks so I didn't get overly creative to make if fit into anything smaller.

Seabed Delay - Minor Mod for Non-PTC PT2399 and noise comparison

I tried the PTC chip both ways. I thought maybe the noise was related, but it was still ticking after I jumpered pins 3 and 4.

Seabed Delay - Minor Mod for Non-PTC PT2399 and noise comparison

Just dropping an observation from my latest build so anyone looking for this might find. I made a pair of Seabed Delay (Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay) PCBs, and I used a Princeton Tech PT2399 in one, and LingxingIC PT2399 that I bought from LCSC to test. I was having issues with the LX chip...

    Even more new Tayda colors!

I was curious to see how the Candy Metallic Gold and Candy Metallic Yellow compared, so I ordered some!. Here is a comparison in case you are curious. I like both of them, because I like my metallic candy finishes! I have tried to properly white balance the picture below - I think it gets the...

Seabed Delay (Phido TBD) - #2

I am trying to cut back 😜

Seabed Delay (Phido TBD) - #2

The campaign to put PCBs to cases is underway. Not much Phido Sound branded as these were my test builds for all the different PCBs I bought last summer, which I built over the winter. First up is a Seabed Delay - a PT2399 basic delay with only three controls. I wanted to get this one cased...

    Fuzz Aldrin hfe question

@Chuck D. Bones I've been wandering through the rabbit hole of HFD/Lunar Module, which led me here. I am pretty new to all of this, and am curious if there are numbers around leaky or not-leaky for Germanium. In this case, what would you think of as leaky? >200 µA Ibc? at a particular collector...

A new-production BBD, with added features!

My guess is that the signal would be fine, as long as the duty cycle is right. The HGSemi 74HC14 is less than 0.08 at LSC...

A new-production BBD, with added features!

OK. Not maybe that much "live" Live enough that I can trace a signal through the SSI2100 output lead. I still need to fix the output stage signal path. On my cheap FNIRSI TC3, I don't have enough resolution to really say much about the signal quality.

A new-production BBD, with added features!

It lives! I was able to clip and jumper the input side of the OpAmp on my little board and the SSI seems to be working! Cool. When I went to jumper the output side, though, I have bunged the chip too much. I think I am going to just desolder and remove it and start with a fresh TL072 with...

A new-production BBD, with added features!

Oof. I have confirmed that I did, in fact, wire up the Op Amp inverting/non-inverting inputs backwards on my mini-board. So much for QC check before sending of to JLCPCB 😜. Walking this backwards, it looks like the SSI2100 data sheet shows the + an - in the opposite arrangement from KiCad's...

A new-production BBD, with added features!

I have looked at the LTC1799 as a simpler clock. Definitely interested to see how it works for you.
