I watched the build video, it looks fairly simple. I was worried about the top mount jacks in the 1590b at first, too.

Oh yeah, no I wasn’t debating you, I know how much more efficient and stable smd is. We’ve been saying through hole will be obsolete for a while now. I’m not entirely convinced it will be. At least I hope not. I feel like we would lose a lot of the pedal diy community we have now.

While I have soldered SMD in various sizes, I’d rather poke my eyes with a fork than do it again for fun.

That’s actual a culture jam design / pcb. Start with the usual troubleshooting steps.

1590B is the way to go.

I watched the assembly video last night, I’m digging the 1590b idea.

So it all depends on the application.

Ok, I’m intrigued. I feel like I need to build one, I’m kind of the same as Ryan. I’ve built all of mine, except the tuner.

It’s my understanding smd jfets don’t vary enough to worry about it.
