DEMO [perf/wood] Maxon ST-9 Super Tube Screamer

That is rad!! If you used a little sliver of mahogany or ash or something you could honestly probably sell it to some cork sniffers for the “tonewood” pcb lol

    Rewiring Tele (seeking advice)

So if I'm tracking correctly, you already got the Fender Ultra Vintage Noiseless tele pickups? If so, two things of note, perhaps.... First is - as I understand it - they already have a separate ground wire for the pickup cover. Double check this, but I'm pretty sure the green wire already...

    Better Way To Cut Stripboard?

Cutting disc on dremel, or if you're really in a pinch a thin cutting disc on an angle grinder has certainly taken care of it for me before :P

    Tayda Discounts?

Tayda had a real knack for posting their coupon codes the day after you placed a big order anyways, so probably not really missing out on much. :p

    VFE Klein Bottle

These type of pedals/gadgets are a big vice of mine. I love building stuff with all sorts of wacky routing and zany possibilities and this and that... Last time I built a pedalboard I made it with a built-in A/B switcher for multiple guitars, two separate insert/"audition" points for trying out...

    What's on the workbench?

I may very well have missed it but this is one that got me very stoked a while back when you dropped this here...any status update for us?? 🙏🙏🙏

    Tube dampener rings

I had them in an old amp years ago (ac30) and it did seem to work nicely for me. Might’ve been placebo but they’re so cheap there’s basically no downside to trying imo

(Un)soldering the backs of pots (e.g. pickup wiring)

That's kinda what I was going to say. If I use a good sharp pair of flush/diagonal cutters you can get things pretty clean with that alone - cut the wires off but also I've found if there's enough solder left on the pot for the cutters to "grab" you can cut right through that as well. Ends up...

    Newbie

First thing that came to mind for me as well.. Low parts count and nothing unusual or hard-to-find. (well, calls for OPA2134 but you can slap a 4558 or TL072 in there and it'll be just fine IMO) Doesn't care about fancy diodes, nothing needing biased or etc. Sounds really good and fit in just...

How do you typically Clean flux from PCB

TBH, this for me, lol. I pretty much never bother cleaning boards and it's never caused me any trouble. I polish them up a little bit if I'm gonna share some up close and personal gut shots (but even in those instances it's never been a flux-related issue, lol) I guess if I was building to sell...

What strings do you guys use?

I've had an Amazon "subscribe and save" subscription for basic D'addario XL 11's for as long as I can remember at this point. With discount they end up being like $4.50 a pack or something silly cheap. There are other strings I've liked better but none have been "better enough" to justify the...

    Insulated jack wiring

I can never remember which side is switched/unswitched or whatnot so whenever I use these (assuming I don't need the switched-capability) I just solder to one side and then bridge across to the other with a resistor leg or something :P

Is there a trick to using these led bezels?

I think if I remember correctly the 5mm ones use a 5/16" hole, or I guess like 8mm metric? If I'm thinking of it right I'm pretty sure I go very slightly undersized though, like 19/64" or 7.5mm perhaps would work. But more importantly, as others have said - make sure the LED is seated in the...

    Buffer into Buffered Splitter

Probably an easy/dumb question but what the heck. I've got a vero build of JHS little black buffer. It's fine, it works, nothing fancy. It's first in my chain but I'm wanting to split my signal so one output goes to an always-on tuner and the other output goes to the rest of my pedals. Again...
