Stepping down Traco TEC-30923 to +-12V

What is the current draw per rail for this circuit? If your circuit draws any significant amount of current, output voltage at the voltage divider is going to sag and fluctuate unless you use very low value resistors. For a stiff rail you'd choose your voltage divider current to be at least 10...

    EOL parts thread

Seems like Kemet is discontinuing all film caps 2.2uF and up, see the following Mouser search: https://www.mouser.de/c/passive-components/capacitors/film-capacitors/?capacitance=2.2 uF~~6 uF&lead spacing=5 mm (0.197 in)&m=KEMET&rp=passive-components/capacitors/film-capacitors|~Capacitance This...

New and improved circuit, any criticism appreciated

I don't think those LED clippers will do much of anything if you're feeding a normal guitar signal into the op amp. The diodes in the feedback loop of the op amp in conjunction with the comparatively small guitar signal will be limiting the maximum achievable output voltage swing too much...

Harmonic Percolator - stripboard & steel mini enclosure

I like that enclosure. I guess it's steel? (Edit: It is. I can't read thread titles apparently) I've hand drilled steel amp chassis in the past and it always sucked ass and looked terrible. This isn't bad by comparison. Anyway, I need to build myself a Harmonic Percolator at some point.

    TB-92 Silicon Treble Booster

I did. These are all the transistors I tested: X is bad, circle is good or at least interesting. As you can see it doesn't have an X, so that's good. No circle either though, so I guess it didn't really stick out to me when I tested it. Should be a solid choice though, especially for circuits...

    TB-92 Silicon Treble Booster

To be honest, I think hiss is kind of inherent to the design. Maybe try some of the various Brian May Treble Booster circuits, like the Fryer TB schematic below. These often cut more highs than other circuits and should generally be less hissy as a result. You can increase the value of the...

    TB-92 Silicon Treble Booster

At some point I just started adding random transistors to my Tayda and Mouser carts because I thought they sounded cool :D Initially I was looking specifically for lower gain transistors though, as well as models which are available in different hFE ranges, like BC549A/B/C. My go-to rock tone...

    TB-92 Silicon Treble Booster

Thanks! Do it, the circuit is easy to breadboard and modify. Try out different resistors, capacitors and transistors and see how they change the tone and feel of the circuit. The input capacitor C1 is part of an RC filter. Its value in conjunction with the impedance as set by the biasing network...

    TB-92 Silicon Treble Booster

I just wanted to breadboard a Brian May treble booster. Now here I am over half a year later with my own treble booster design while still not having breadboarded a Brian May booster. Oh well. At its heart this is still just a Rangemaster. There's an aggressive bass cut followed by a single...

EU source for 125B and 1590B sized foldable cardboard boxes

Still a bit wide at 100 mm (~4"), ideally I'd like to get it down to 70-80 mm (~3") width to get a snug fit, but thanks for the suggestion!

EU source for 125B and 1590B sized foldable cardboard boxes

I know about those standard 6x3x3" boxes you guys in the US got, but those are pretty much not available in Europe. Any similar suggestions other than going completely custom? These aren't meant to be shipping boxes but for giving customers a box to go along with their pedal. I got some...

DEMO Breadboard builds [Tone Reaper //// Boss HM-2, MT-2 + mods /// JCM800 Pedal /// EAE Model feT]

Pro level breadboarding. I like the sounds you're getting, with and without mods. I've had basically the opposite idea about the tone stack - take only the distortion stages of the Metal Zone and put the Marshall Valvestate or Ampeg VH-140C tone stack after it. Could make for a decent 90s death...

    Bring out yer Diptrace

Silicon treble booster with some tonal options: Getting a hang of this I think. Is there an easy way to round off 45° angles in traces other than doing it all manually with arcs? Is this easier in KiCad?
