    Soft touch nut drivers?

Does anyone have recommendations for nut drivers that won’t scratch up my pedals or guitars? I’ve been using 3d printed rocket socket style nut drivers but they don’t last very long. The actual rocket sockets are injection molded so they’ll be much more durable, but what other options are out...

    Farty nobelium

Hey I could use a hand troubleshooting my nobelium. It’s been working great for several years now but I’ve had issues the past few nights. I’ve started getting a farty distortion on the lowest notes after about 30 minutes of being plugged in. I was using the 1/4”out. The issue seems to be...

4 band onboard preamp development - First Project

I ended up making a filter style preamp along the lines of the passinwind pre for my personal instruments. I never really finished up the 4 band pre

    Bass with Onboard Nobellium

I think in this case you have two options. If you have the electronic and pcb design skill, you can redesign the circuit to fit your needs or have someone else do it. Your other option is to route out a lot of space, and use a circuit as is. I don't think that the in-between option of using...

    sushi box grand slampegg

I actually used the stock hpf cap value for my nobelium. I love it on upright, it doesn't need to be changed. I had thought I changed the cap value but when I went back to check I realized I hadn't

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

Those clips were done looping the bass with an Hx Stomp. The Nobelium was set with no hpf, bass maxed, treble at noon, and xlr volume maxed. I was hitting the transformers as hard as I could so that the differences would be more pronounced. I haven't gotten a chance to compare with more...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

From my initial listening: Unagi - Amazing, sounds very clear and balanced throughout the whole frequency range. I would choose the Unagi if you want a natural well extended sound LBA - Also amazing but more colored. I hear a touch more heft in the low end and the highs are tucked down just a...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I'm waiting to get the right XLR jacks but I'll do some testing in the mean time. What's a good software for measuring frequency response and THD? I have REW and Multitone analyser but I haven't used them before.

Skeptical buffer introduces noise when harmonics switch engaged

The "harmonics" switch is just a high frequency boost so its more likely to bring out any fizzy white noise in your chain. Maybe try putting a cap from pin4 to ground and pin8 to ground of the opamp? If for some reason you have a lot of psu noise that should help a little.

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I've been in this same situation for the past few months. Short answer: You can't get them right now I've talked to Jensen, radial, and every other distributor and no one has them. I even talked to Jack from Nobel and he's having a hard time getting a hold of them. There is a Rode branded one...

    Favorite amp replacement pedal?

That board is really tiny. A mini Atmos setup has been climbing up my to do list and those boards would be great to put into the speakers.

    Favorite amp replacement pedal?

Honestly I could just patch in whatever preamp to the existing power amp currently in the combo. There's no fx loop but it's easy to find where the patch point would go. As for the class AB amp, I just want to give it a try. It's probably what the combo has already tbh. I might even try a class...

    Favorite amp replacement pedal?

I'm trying to practice guitar more and want to convert my cheap combo amp to something nicer. I have amp modelers and nice pedals and all that, but I just want something that's plug and play. I plan to gut out the amp and replace it with a preamp, a reverb, and a class AB amp board Im...

    Blue tac alternative?

I love using blue tac to hold my parts and PCBs in place while soldering. The only problem is that bluetac softens with heat so it can get a little messy when a part gets too hot. Are there any alternatives to like blue tac that aren't as heat sensitive?
