What does this jumper between clipping paths do?

    I'd like to know, too!

    Median Transistor Orientation

The source is normally pointing down and the drain is pointing up in a schematic. And when the gate arrow is pointing towards another leg and not in the middle, like in the pic above, it's always pointing to the source.

    Rockett Boing output impedance mod

Hi all, This is a super easy mod and might help somebody out, so I thought I would post it here. I wanted a nice reverb pedal for my FX loop, so I built a Boing. I wasn't disappointed, the pedal sounded good. And with just one knob it's set and forget. The only issue I had with it was a...

    Median Compressor not working

Check that R102 is 10k, should be brown, black, black, red, brown like the resistors beside it. I see gold in the pic, but it might just be appearing that way in the picture. Also check that the DC socket isn't wired backward. It looks like the black ground cable is wired to the upper lug and...

    Median Compressor not working

Use the flash when taking pics. That usually brings out the color codes pretty well.

    Median Compressor not working

Pictures aren't that great, it's hard to confirm the color codes of the resistors. I suggest to check the voltages of the Opamps and post them here.

Is there a 'better' MOAB-style pedal out these days?

ROG Thor is also fantastic. I think PedalPCB has a PCB for it. I built it on a PCB from TH Customs. It has some mods, like Baxendall tone stack.

    Median bias voltage recommendation?

Hello huntest, It's the same as with an Orange Squeezer. Q1 is used as a variable resistor for the compressor. The bias totally depends on the JFET you use. For it to work properly as a variable resistor, it needs to be put into the linear region, meaning it needs to be barely "on" when there's...

    1590B Top-Mount Jacks Measurements

Hey all, I managed to put "big" DC jack and audio jacks in 1590b, see pic below. I had to file the audio jack holes a bit down and use two extra washers on the inside of the audio jacks, though. But hey, it worked. I would attach PDF with drill template, but I can't seem to upload it. Forum...

    Small 1uF electrolytics

Sure, but if every time you buy the same cap it's always the same amount over what's on the label, I won't blame it on tolerance anymore :)

    Small 1uF electrolytics

I use the mini caps as well from time to time. My shop says that they're from Panasonic. My tester says ESR is quite low. But capacitance is usually a bit on the high side. Like, 2u2 is more like 2u6, 4u7 is more like 5u2. Although the last time I ordered the 50V variety and they had less...

    Empress Distortion

Hi all, Schematic is over here: Link I wanted to try this out for quite some time. But I wanted to build it without the 8V regulator. Going from 9V to 8V seems a bit meh. The problem is, in my opinion, that the TLC2272 opamp is max rated for -8V to +8V, so in that sense the regulator makes...

    Aion FX Straylight

Forgetting about the lid I measure a depth of 3.5cm. Pretty sure I got mine at retroamplis: https://www.retroamplis.com/Hammond-1590BBS-Diecast-aluminium-box They also link to the Hammond datasheet which contains more measurements. If you're in Europe that may be a good source.

    Aion FX Straylight

Aionfx build doc says BB2 has not enough depths, he says it has 4mm less depth than BBS. I opened up my Straylight that I had built with aion's light shield. The BBS I used barely fits it. The highest points are the light shield and the power filtering cap. I would advise against BB2.
