    Jlcpcb and tariffs

I absolutely love the OSH purple and gold look, but yeah, the nubs do suck. For me the other viable US based alternative has been DKRed, who give us a mildly annoying random board ID number instead of the nubs. They also don't do plated slots, which I use occasionally for onboard preamps...

EPCOS/TDK for polyester, Kemet PHE426 for polypro. I've been using the latter in 1nf-68nF for many years, not so much in bigger sizes for typical coupling applications though.

    film capacitors

Thanks for the heads-up, I managed to miss the end of life notice Mouser presumably sent me. I've been getting way too many of those notices over the last few years! I threw in a quick order for 100 of my most used size but that won't last me all that long, and then I may have to revamp quite a...

If in the US: Mouser first, then maybe Digikey, Newark, Arrow, certain well vetted eBay vendors, etc. Buying in bulk quantities brings pricing down substantially, and you do need to look at spec sheets carefully to make sure you get the right footprint. The Mouser search engine takes some...

    Favorite 1590XX builds

I did this one for my Dojo (banjo/dobro hybrid), separate EQ for the piezo and magnetic pickups and then blend to mono: The Dojo has TRS output, so cabling is just one in one out.

I use DK Red quite a bit, for my typically very small boards the only major drawback is the non support for plated slots, but there’s always OSH for that. I tried going direct to their primary fabricator in California for a quote once, DKR is actually a huge bargain in comparison!

Passinwind Open Source Hybrid Filter Preamp Builds

PM me, I have a few trick new parts that might make your build a little easier. If you get it right you may never even think of going back to a shelving control, IMNSHO, but it's very very easy to not get it right! Just another tool in the box, hard to say from here if it's the right tool for...

Markertek should be able to special order one for you.

Real Time Analyzer. I highly recommend Room EQ Wizard, which is freeware. There are VST plugs that work OK too. And not a hint of offense taken, I was just trying to flesh out your post! So suppose we wanted to see for ourselves where the actual nominal flat setting on a G-K MB500 Fusion amp...

I do computer RTAs on anything EQ related as a matter or course, and typically scope anything and everything I work on right off the bat as well. ;)

JFET Testing - ARP 2600 Synthesizer

The customer repair tech from ARP back then is still around, are at least was in 2020 when I had a nice chat with her at NAMM. I'll see if I can scare up some contact info. Unfortunately I never got to work on any 2600s when I was a QC tech there, but I played the two in the employee studio...

I put it in LTspice and see how I can improve it, of course. I've actually done this all of one time, as there were no build docs for that particular pedal at that time, and it was going to be a build for a friend that I didn't feel like doing my own design for.

    Component value and frequency response

This. But if you actually do the homework and use the excellent support forum at https://groups.io/g/LTspice and the various threads here useful results can come fairly quickly, IME. It's also possible to run WAV or MP3 files through LTspice and render something you can listen to, although...

    Solder Brand

After finally getting around to all that, type 44 and type 285 are still my favorites for general purpose use.
