is it just me or is it very difficult to source film capacitors and they are much more expensive than any other components even transformers are much easier to source
in the US i look all over wherever they pop upWhere are you located and where have you tried to source them from? I find film caps to be pretty straight forward to find. Absolutely everything is on Mouser and Tayda’s selection is also very good. Though if you’re looking for WIMAs or other name brands you’ll only be able to get some of them from Tayda.
There are variety kits on Amazon that probably aren’t the highest quality but they’ll do the trick for the vast majority of hobby projects and are probably better than what was in most of the much coveted vintage pedals.
actually deep down inside i knowit’s just you
thats the problem!actually deep down inside i know![]()
Thanks for the heads-up, I managed to miss the end of life notice Mouser presumably sent me. I've been getting way too many of those notices over the last few years! I threw in a quick order for 100 of my most used size but that won't last me all that long, and then I may have to revamp quite a few board layouts and go to something blue or gray, Jah forbid. Some might actually be harder to find going forward.

EPCOS/TDK for polyester, Kemet PHE426 for polypro. I've been using the latter in 1nf-68nF for many years, not so much in bigger sizes for typical coupling applications though.Grays are Kemet, right? I know I’ve used some blues, but can’t remember who makes them…
unfortunately there is a shortage , too bad i just started this new hobbySome might actually be harder to find going forward.
