    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Another vote for Tru-oil. I've used it for a bunch of wood finishing and re-finishing and get great results as a clumsy amateur. I lightly buff with 00 steel wool between the first couple of coats after they dry, and then very lightly with 0000 after the last to get the hand rubbed oil looking...

They're much nicer to use than the cheap amazon ceramic tweezers they replaced, but that's my only basis for comparison. It's easier to hold on and manipulate SOT-23 package transistors. Just measured another batch of 120 and it was less horrible.

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Ordering in bulk the price difference for a batch of 100 pedals wasnt too bad. I don't know that they're demonstrably better in any sense but I can bend the leads how I want them faster and get a better solder joint easier. That was enough to justify the cost for me, plus the bonus of looks=toan.

    Non-opamp Active Tonestacks

You can run a passive Bax tone stack with high input impedance, you just lose a good amount of volume and have to play with values a bit to bring the HF response back up. So you could experiment with putting it in without a buffer and see if you can make up the desired volume with a single...

    Amp Mods (Valve Jr)

That's some clean work and a nice looking modded amp! I've got a Valve Jr combo I've been kicking around since 2006. Most previous mods have been ripped out now and the board reworked to Champ values with NFB along with a simple low pass tone control, Hammond OPT, and an Jensen P8R.

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

They're KOA Speer MF series. I tried out a few of the lower price bracket options at mouser and these were my favorite. The leads seem to bend more uniformly with less difficulty and are a little thicker than Yageo or Royal Ohm, and solder flows through the joints nicer. Plus they look cool...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

I'm always happy when I get to the C0G caps. It means no more bending resistor leads for the day.

    My First Production Pedal?

Jumping on to say thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread, and wishing I'd read it last year. I've been away from the site a while because I decided to design a pedal, start a company and ruin my fun hobby by trying to monetize it. I launched the website and payed to play with a few...

Getting Started with PCBA at JLCPCB

Thanks! I've been contemplating PCBA daughterboards but am intimidated by the process and have failed to research on my own.

    Kewpie Fuzz

Sorry for the late reply. I can't remember where they came from but I'm guessing my local electronics store. The whole place is a collection of old stock from the 60's-90's just because they haven't needed to restock maybe ever? I never see anyone else there, I don't know how they still exist.

    125B Scabbard drill template

Scabbard drill template The hole for the led is sized at 6mm for one of these bezels. Tayda has the mounting hole sizes listed for the other bezels, so if you want a different one or a bare led, just add 0.2mm to the size of the mounting hole.

What's your thoughts on Brian Wampler's new Video Courses?

Just finished reading the 2nd book after getting through the first a few months ago. I didn't/still don't know much of how things work and thought both books were pretty great. I have a much better understanding now despite largely ignoring the more complicated math included in the text because...

    PedalPCB forums appreciation thread

Agreed, I love this place, I'm pretty new and still learning and it's been a great help in addition to fun/funny, and interesting. I've been frantically working on a design to try to release as a commercial pedal and haven't posted much lately but I'm starting to see the light at the end of the...

    Anyone using Circuitlab?

I also signed up for a month, I like it so far. There aren't a ton of component choices, at least for what I've been using - jfets, bjts, and diodes - but you can import spice models in text format and save them. From a quick look at the menu, all the schematic export options are graphic...
