    Jlcpcb and tariffs

Yeah for small boards OSH's quality to price ratio is insane, I like them.

    Even more new Tayda colors!

I actually think both of those colours are great, lol.

    Retrospectives II - "Germanium Giant"

Thank you! It's a nice one, I'm sure you'll be satisfied. I have been delaying horribly on uploading the gerbers due to other life commitments, but I have a couple of spare boards, and you can have one if you like!

    Buying Diodes on Ebay

SOVCOM is the go-to, no worries there, and ml-electronics/bg2014manue (two storefronts run by the same guy) are also reliable sources for NOS Soviet stuff. As mentioned there are a handful of good sellers for this sort of product in Ukraine and elsewhere in Eastern Europe, I wouldn't be too...

    What's on the workbench?

Oh fuck yes, I have been dying to get my hands on one of these for a long time!

    Jlcpcb and tariffs

Honestly same, not that I don't have experience cold-calling companies asking for quotes, but an instant-quote feature like JLC or OSH have would be a gamechanger for this company's reach to hobbyists. No one wants to ask for the price of anything and then have to rescind their interest when...

    Tayda footswitches?

Yes, I use these (the short shaft version) all the time. They are solid and smooth and I have never had an issue with them!

    Russian Germaniums

Also, I have heard that the Soviet germs "behave" like other more typical germs of higher gain, if that helps at all. Also look out for 1T308V (the "military spec" version of GT308V), these tend to have good gain and negligible leakage and are very stable with temperature. GT109i, GT310B are...

How do you typically Clean flux from PCB

That's fair. Goodness knows many homes don't have the greatest ventilation, unlike our labs. Though the existing toxicological data on heptane aren't very condemning, I do agree with you that limiting exposure is the best strategy. EDIT I should clarify that I don't think that anything you said...

How do you typically Clean flux from PCB

You might be surprised how much better the heptane/IPA mixture works than straight IPA, seeing as fluxes are mostly nonpolar stuff. I've found that straight IPA has a tendency to smear the flux around before removing it, where the heptane/IPA mixture clears it right out - may just be the solder...

Collateral FX Star System (Mostortion clone)

This is beautiful, I love the little MOSFET-planet icon. Well done.

    What diode is this?

That being said, you can still use Zener diodes as regular clipping diodes as long as you have an antiparallel pair; in this arrangement, the Zener voltage doesn't come into effect and they'd look like a pair of regular silicon diodes (in which case there's not much point, just use a pair of...

Nope, that's totally fine, rock it.

    What's on the workbench?

Changing oil in vacuum pumps is a shockingly large part of my job, and it seems like I'm nearly the only one of my coworkers that knows how to do it without leaving a mess, so I feel for you.
