    Tayda footswitches?

Yes, I use these (the short shaft version) all the time. They are solid and smooth and I have never had an issue with them!

    Russian Germaniums

Also, I have heard that the Soviet germs "behave" like other more typical germs of higher gain, if that helps at all. Also look out for 1T308V (the "military spec" version of GT308V), these tend to have good gain and negligible leakage and are very stable with temperature. GT109i, GT310B are...

How do you typically Clean flux from PCB

That's fair. Goodness knows many homes don't have the greatest ventilation, unlike our labs. Though the existing toxicological data on heptane aren't very condemning, I do agree with you that limiting exposure is the best strategy. EDIT I should clarify that I don't think that anything you said...

How do you typically Clean flux from PCB

You might be surprised how much better the heptane/IPA mixture works than straight IPA, seeing as fluxes are mostly nonpolar stuff. I've found that straight IPA has a tendency to smear the flux around before removing it, where the heptane/IPA mixture clears it right out - may just be the solder...

Collateral FX Star System (Mostortion clone)

This is beautiful, I love the little MOSFET-planet icon. Well done.

    What diode is this?

That being said, you can still use Zener diodes as regular clipping diodes as long as you have an antiparallel pair; in this arrangement, the Zener voltage doesn't come into effect and they'd look like a pair of regular silicon diodes (in which case there's not much point, just use a pair of...

    What's on the workbench?

Changing oil in vacuum pumps is a shockingly large part of my job, and it seems like I'm nearly the only one of my coworkers that knows how to do it without leaving a mess, so I feel for you.

    A simple Relay Bypass

Yeah those large superconducting solenoids are no joke. We have an instrument in my lab like this as well, there is enough stray field that when the magnet is charged to maximum field (7 T, I don't remember the exact current needed but probably in the 100s of amps) my (quartz) analog watch(es)...

School me on C and W tapers behavior

    1) is your standard linear "B" taper, 2) is your standard logarithmic or "audio" "A" taper (which is ironic because that curve is not a logarithmic function), 4) is the reverse-log or "C" taper (which is really more like a logarithmic function), 5) is a "W" taper, sort of sigmoidal where you...

How do you typically Clean flux from PCB

Historically I never bothered cleaning boards but recently I started doing so with DIY-ed IPA/heptane cleaner - really works (the heptane helps to better dissolve the more nonpolar flux relative to straight IPA).

Website isn't working for me, returns a "connection reset" error. Nice project though!! EDIT: my bad, it was my fucking antivirus.
