So I don't hate the way it sounds, but the novelty of it being a copy of that ridiculous Ibanez pedal was the main appeal. Whoever called it the mediocre RAT is right. It's a little grainy for my tastes, but it's alright. I subbed a 2N5457 in place of the J201. Honestly, wasn't sure if it would even work, but it was what I had on hand. Maybe it'd sound better with a 201? I have no idea. Edit: oh yeah, when I turn all the knobs all the way up, or close to, it does want to squeal or self-oscillate or something. But since it sounds best at lower "tube" and medium-to-lowish "eq" settings, that shouldn't be a major issue. Also, I live in an apartment and never crank my amp.
