Failed Terrarium/Daisy build - need help!

Hi all,

I am new to building pedals (or any hardware at all).

I am trying to build a Daisy Seed/Terrarium pedal.
I soldered everything together, flashed a simple bypass example, connected power supply and tried using the pedal.

It made some sounds but the Daisy chip started to heat up and then after a few seconds it died.

After that Daisy would not appear in the USB menu so it was clearly dead.

I ordered a new Daisy module, but I am now thinking how to fix the hardware before I burn another 30$.

Does anyone know what I should pay attention to?
Is something wrong with the soldering?
Would it be safer to use my pedal with USB cable rather than a power supply?
Any other tips on debugging my hardware build? The picture is below.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hey, we can have a chat over this...My guess would be wrong polarity and/or overvoltage on the input or the voltage in but its impossible to guess from afar...What timezone are you in? Im in Berlin...cheers!

Do you have electrical tape or something to keep the lower 3 pots from shorting out the pcb on the backside?

I’ve had two daisys mysteriously die on me fairly recently, probably user error, but never figured out what happened.

What voltages do you see coming from the socket for the the Daisyseed? This is probably the number one place to start with digital stuff. Don't even plug the Daisy seed back in, just put your multimeter into the the socket holes.
