New shop space - a WIP

This is the original garage in my place that was refinished way before we bought the house. It was daughter's playroom for a long time, then storage.

My initial plan was to rip out all the bulkhead on the floor (that has the air ducts) then rip out all the carpet and put in vinyl plank flooring. Also, paint everything because it looks terrible. But, circumstances have changed to make this a nearly $0 re-do. That's the way it goes. I'll update as I make progress over the next couple of weeks.

Here's what we are unfortunately starting with. Believe it or not, this is 50% cleaned out from where we started.

Oooh a sneak peak of Las Casa del Bean! Bean Manor? The house that Bean built?

Some progress today. One half of the room got cleaned and drums are finally set up for the first time in a few years. Also, the blinds from the window fell off and there's a bit of a problem with the register cover. I think I will spend the dollars for new blinds and covers for the room so it doesn't look too ghetto.

That orange snare next to the unused tom was made by me!

Oliver is waiting patiently until he can zoomie in the new space.

I think I have some of the same clothes drying racks, the one with the long handles is great for tall stuff!

No pics today, but we made progress. We're going to install some stick on vinyl flooring over the exposed concrete which is going to be my pedal building area (can't have little bits of wire sticking in carpet and poking my feets). New vent covers for the registers, outlet covers and some surge protectors on the way. I have to be moved into this space in the next 10 days so it will be a crunch. This is a crappy blog, I guess.

Naaa, it’s cool. Sounds like a fun project. You’re right, things get lost and consequently stepped on in carpet. Let me tell you, opamps are a blast to step on when they’re legs up.

We did finally set a budget of $1k. So, half of it gets me in the space and later on this year we're going to paint and I will be building some worktables that fit around the bulkheads on the floor. I just wish we had done this 5 years ago like I planned.

Um....how do you test pedal designs on that thing?

New flooring is in. This took me a few days due to back pain problems, but I got it done. Far from perfect but serviceable. Once I put in base board and paint it will look good.

New metal storage cabinet (putting the doors on tomorrow). Total PITA to assemble. I swear, any time I have to put something together my engineer brain won't stop saying "why did you design it this wayyyyyy?!!"

isn’t it because engineers design the product effectively and correctly, at which point the bean counters make them redesign it until it hits a price point?

Is it an excellent price-point, though? That's the point.

Did you take the pics with a point-and-shoot camera?
BTW, is the house located on a lake-point?
You know, just to point out, a wall-mural would look really good in the place, one using pointilism. To illustrate my point, really drive the point home...

Sorry, just point and I'll show myself out. No more pointed remarks I swear, that'd be pointless.
I'm not earning any brownie-points here, at all, am I. Point taken. I'm past the point of no return, you might even say I'm belabouring the point ... I think I'm on point, but you must be at the tipping point by now. So many more points to make, though, but that's beside the point.

One last point dare me, at point-blank range, to make one...

My camera is, in fact, diesel powered.

Almost everything has been moved into the space. Next up is to figure out where everything is going to go. After that, I will be using those amazing Lowe's gift cards to start scratch building the work benches and new computer desk and also painting all the walls. I figure by the end of the year everything will be just as I want it!
