Finished building this today, and I’m far more impressed than I thought I would be.

I’ve had a Tumnus Deluxe for several years, now, so I figured with its extra controls that I’d probably prefer that.

I’m not sure I do, at this point. Although I still need to do an A/B test with them, I feel like I may actually prefer the Kliche Mini.

The feel and sound of the gain structure, when the gain is cranked pretty high, is just so satisfying and chewy. It’s almost as if there really is something about the 1N34A germanium diodes, or something. Could just be a placebo effect. I dunno.

Anyway, it was a fun build, and I love the layout!

I love that shot of the enclosure after it’s been colored.

GE diodes definitely have that chewy sound to them. I also like GE diodes in a RAT or Big Muff. It’s a nice option to have.
