footswitch soldering problem?

hi all!

i have this 9 pin footswith i did solder to the pcb. I thought in the moment that all 9 finns should be soldered to the pcb, but that was probably wrong
because the pedal is totally dead. no led ligt not sound no nothing. I hope some one has time to answer this silly rookie question!

What is the name of the pedal, and got any pictures?

Did you follow the wiring diagram?

I suggest starting a troubleshooting thread with lots of clear pictures of the board and wiring.

Check with a multimeter on resistance or diode setting.
You should get a beep or near 0 ohms between the ceter lug and top OR bottom lug but not the top AND bottom lug.
So 12, 45, 78 then switched 23 56 89
Nothing between 12 46 79

Azure Analog Chorus is the pedal. I hade quite good control over the soldering and wireing should be ok. it was that switch that made confused, thougt if I solder all 9pins the one not in use cant do any harm, but might have done

Aionfx kit version, I'm assuming. Please provide clear pictures of the entire thing (both boards and wiring). I doubt the footswitch is the issue.

yes the Azure analog chourus kit. i dont have it here right now but I send some pics when i get home next week. I already gave up on it but it is not my style but since i dont know shit about electronics it feels like big obsticle to climb.

No shade intended: your posts are a little less than clear. That's OK, I think I have the jist of what you're asking:

It sounds to me like you have a build that didn't fire up on the first try.

It also sounds like you're concerned that, perhaps, not all nine lugs on the stomp switch were supposed to be soldered to the PCB. and you're wondering if this is the reason that your build didnt fire up right away.

If I got all that right, then fear not. That's the way it's supposed to be: all nine pins are meant to be soldered to the circuit board.

The problem likely occured elsewhere in your build. Take high quality, detailed photos. Post here. Look for shorts, backwards components, the like.

Your chose a relatively complex circuit, but it's absolutely doable for a first timer. Lots of the time it's as simple as a solder bridge, or a wire whisker causing a short.

That’s a great pedal and pretty easy for an experienced builder, but kinda tough for a first timer. Maybe set it aside and build some simpler pedals to get your skills down and then come back to the Azure?
All my abandoned builds were eventually fixable once I had more soldering under my belt and could easily spot my errors.

thanks for reply and yes you got it spot on! yes I will send some detailed pics next week when i get home. i thougt I was good enough for it. i have been doing som soldering before. with that said it was a bit hard to find the right components without a multimeter. maybe someone can se somethung that is wrong with it.

ok so here are pictures on fron and backside. was har do to a detailed picture when forum accepts so damn small filesize, bu I hope you can see something wierd and wrong and save it from the bin. well obviously some loose cables on the cable plug connectors but that will not kill the pedal anyway. cheers guys

Couple trouble areas I see right away: Footswitch lugs definitely need to be reflowed. There's a lot of suspect joints all around though. Take your time, the epoxy on switches melts pretty easily.

The back of your mix knob, is it protected? It may be shorting out against the solder side if not.

Which BBD chip did you use for IC2? You need to install jumpers in the pads beside the mix knob based on which you used.

This first, put the right jumpers. But be sure to isolate that mix pot from the board. FS could use more solder but I've seen some work with less.

Those tabs on your pots will need to be removed before putting it in the enclosure unless youre makinf the little holes for them

thanks for you answers! i dont get what jumpers you refering to. clearly I dont understan what jumpers is. the cables i assume? mix pot dont touch the board.

dont know what BBD chp is it. only did the kit from musikding.de

You have to install jumper wires depending on which BBD IC you used. Check the build doc, I'm sure it's mentioned there.
