My shipping is lost or delayed....what to do next

Hi folks!
There's anyone here from Germany that experienced a delay or a lost package from PPCB/USPS?
In Berlin a lot of post offices are now close
(since COVID probably) So where I'm supposed to go to get information?
I checked the tracking and still looking the same since the 11 of December...wtf!

You might get more accurate information from GlobalPost tracking directly, rather than from USPS.

It looks like it will be handed off to DHL Germany, but that hasn't happened yet.

It's not unusual for GlobalPost shipments to take 6 - 8 weeks to arrive. Just because it has made it to Germany means nothing, it will still have to be unpacked from bulk shipping and processed into the local postal stream.

Yep...I had the suspect that holidays were going to slow down the all shipping process....
But then I still don't understand how I can get orders from AliExpress in max 3 days
...or Tayda in max 7 days....
....we renamed DHL as
Delusional Hopeless Lame for a reason

And for less than $1 shipping.

The exact same package would cost $30 and take a month to ship back to them.

I've ordered things from AliExpress that cost around $2 total, including shipping. It arrived at my door via USPS Priority Mail, which at a minimum would cost me $7 to ship a package to my next door neighbor.

To receive a package from another fellow builder also in Germany took more than 2 weeks...Besides could be a manipulative move to "push" the people to the east...the new import taxes we have in Germany since 2021 are just a robbery ...

With all that said, if it does indeed turn out to be lost we'll get it taken care of.
I m gonna keep you updated

I can't wait to assemble those boards!!
....I suspect I have a new condition:
P. T. C. B. S.
Post Traumatic Compulsive Building Syndrome

How should I handle it??....asking for a friend

AliExpress does IOSS. The price you pay already includes VAT/customs fees, all of which is electronically transmitted so there's no hold-up in the destination country where they have to figure out what you owe.
With Tayda if you choose FedEx it's very similar. Tayda tells FedEx what you owe, then they ship right to your door and you get an invoice afterwards.
With regular post it's kind of a lottery. Sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's not. There's no rhyme or reason really.

As for the compulsive building syndrome, I'm sorry to tell you there's no cure. Just gotta learn to live with it! :D

unfortunately shipping is always an issue between countries... it just takes a lot of time for customs stuff

....so am i I understanding correctly....? Did my package simply went back to NY after a Xmas break in EU??....
Yep, sometimes PCBs like to to be on the road for a while. Or just take the scenic route, like my last order I'm still waiting for: it went from New York to South Africa, enjoyed Johannesburg for over 2 weeks, then went on to Casablanca, Morocco for a few days before heading to Brazzaville, Congo, where it has been seen last .........

I'm in Switzerland.

Edit: usually, my orders from this place show up within 1-2 weeks.

There are many factors at play here.

In the US, we just got hit with two major storms. Hundreds of thousands of people lost power. Roads were closed, nothing was being delivered for days.

California is literally on fire.

There is an enormous backlog between US and Canada following the strike.

This is all during one of the busiest times of the year.

In global logistics (and other high volume industries), small delays in one place can continue to much larger delays in other places. All while the backlog continues to grow while still trying to catch up.

My brother lives in Germany- postal service was already as slow as molasses without all the other shit I described above.
