Hum from amp, buzz from guitar

There’s really good info shared here, but I’m still strongly suggesting excluding preamp tube problems before going inside amp chassis, shielding guitar, suspecting household AC problems etc. So did you already check does hum disappear when removing preamp tubes one at the time?

Remove input tube first, flick amp on and off from standy and adjust volume/gain/master. Listen. If hum is still there, flick amp off and proceed for removing the second preamp tube. Listen, turn amp off, remove tube and so on. What happens when phase inverter is removed?
For sure, will give that a shot this weekend. Is it easy to identify which preamp tube is which?

Another thing to try is using the guitar as an antenna. Use a long guitar cord and walk around the room. The noise should get louder as you get closer to the source. If it's the same throughout the room then go to other rooms and check. If it's the utility box you mentioned you'll even have the noise on your back patio.

There are freely downloadable phone apps that give an audio level so you don't have to rely on hearing the level as you move in/out of the beam of your speaker if you prefer. I use an app called "Sound Meter" and like it, it has a history trend that's useful.

how far do you live from one of these?
I have one in my backyard. We used to be able to use wireless units out there for practice, then they upgraded the poles, transformers and wires from 500v-ish to 5000v-ish. They warned us no to let trees get within five feet or they would become lethal if you touched them.

And the next time we started to practice we found out the wireless unit's were making clicking and buzzit sounds. Great.....

Neighbor behind me had a vine that was crawling up the pole. Nasty thing looked like it was out of Indiana Jones. Got very close to the transformer and then it was dead. Yay!
