Parenthesis Fuzz Octave Intelligent Relay Bypass Help

Hey all, Finally my first post here after lurking for quite some time and of course it is a troubleshooting problem that has me stumped.

I have built a Parenthesis Fuzz and would like to incorporate the Intelligent Relay Bypass on the octave section so it can have momentary switching capabilities. I have looked through several builds and threads and did find one where it was incorporated but was only able to half-gleam the wiring from the pictures.

Current state: Distortion and Boost work as expected and sound good. With no relay bypass board installed, if I jumper OCT_1 to OCT_2 I have normal operation with no octave. If I jumper OCT_2 to OCT_3 I have the octave permanently engaged. This all seems to work as expected to me so I think there are no issues with the main PCB.

(Side note here that this logic doesn't really track for me as far as the schematic labelling of OCT_1, OCT_2, and OCT_3. But, it does seem to be as it should looking at the wiring for a regular 3PDT in the wiring photos of the build guide.)

In my attempt to add the relay bypass module I wired it as follows:

OCT_1 -> JACK_OUT
OCT_2 -> JACK_IN
OCT_3 -> IN
OCT_4 -> SW
OCT_5 -> GND

With this I am not able to turn the octave on. The pedal functions normally otherwise, as it did when I jumpered OCT_1 to OCT_2. It does not seem the relay is switching to me, I am getting continuity from JACK_IN to JACK_OUT and also from IN to ground. The LED is not lighting either. I have used my momentary switch on another pedal and it worked fine so I have eliminated that.

I am hoping one of you fine folks can double check that my wiring scheme seems sound and if so, let me know if there's any way to diagnose these Intelligent Relay Bypass modules. I have the components to build another to test but haven't made it that far yet.

Thanks all in advance!

you can also check the name of the member who did the relay bypass on his build and ping him with @.

Just type @ then the first letters of his name, and click on his name in the list that will pop up.

Edit : you can use a momentary 3PDT and wire it as you would with a standard 3PDT, i dont get why you need a relay bypass here. Relay Bypass are meant to make the switching mechanism quieter, is that your goal ?

Thanks, didn't realize you could tag users. The user was @ozdixon. Looks like they haven't been active since their issue a couple years ago but we'll see! Here is their thread, they had an unrelated issue it seems.

I would like it to the have not just momentary function but the 'Smart-Switching' capability that the EQD pedal has. Regular latching on/off, and the ability to hold the footswitch to use as a momentary switch. I have used the Intelligent Relay Bypass on several other builds without issue :)

In the thread you linked, last post from y2kornfreak says he used the picture in the thread to wire his relay bypass, and it worked.

"hey i just wanted to let you know that i was having trouble looking for info on how to use the intelligent relay system with the parentheses pedal, until i used your photos for reference... the pedal works completely fine for me! i have no issue with the octave knob, and everything works as it's supposed to. so thank you for posting the photos and i hope you get your pedal fixed." Yes, as I said in my initial post I had read through this thread and referenced the photos which were basis for the initial wiring, as well as trying to work it out based on the schematic. Unfortunately it is not working for me so trying to see if anybody else can help troubleshoot.

Standard operating procedure in trouble-shooting threads is to post pics.
Otherwise anybody trying to help is basically shooting blanks in the dark.
Wait, that didn't come out right.
Neither did that.

Just post some pics.

EDIT: of your build. Post pics of your build. Not pics of shooting blanks in the dark.

Added pics to my original post. OCT_4 and OCT_5 are obviously unsoldered right now but that was just from troubleshooting.
