This thing was yet another blunder free effort. Hardest part was choosing a germ since I had a few that sounded good. I got ahold of a 2sd352 but I think the hfe was a little high so I ended up going with an AC127 that was closer to the right spec. Sounded much better.

This fuzz is pretty huge. The treble and bass controls are much more powerful than I was expecting. Honestly, I wasn't counting on it working for bass but there's plenty of fat if you want it. It's perhaps not my favorite voice for a bass fuzz but it is definitely not lacking the meat. Bias control is a welcome inclusion that makes it an impressively versatile fuzz.

Keely sounds kind of Irish and today is St. Patrick's day. I figured that I should put it in a green box with an orange led.

Nice build. But being an attorney specializing in intellectual property law, I hopped into this thread thinking it was about something completely different that could lead to me bartering legal services with @Robert for free boards, so I'm also a little bummed.
Just so you didn't come here for nothing and potentially have something to litigate . . . . ;)

They actually sounded pretty similar but I felt like the latter was a bit less gated overall.

What is the hFE of your germanium?

TLDR: 110

What is the hFE of your germanium?
I don't keep very good notes but I think the ac127 was around 85 hFE. I've actually had the lid off of this pedal some recently because I had the suspicion that 85 was too low. I thought it sounded amazing with the bias at zero and then it would just get maybe too gated at the other extreme. The 2sd352 was over 130 hFE and sounded awful at every setting but at the time the ac127 was the closest replacement I had in my stash of pre tested npn.

I've since gone through more of my untested stash and found an mp38a that reads 110 hFE. Sounds excellent with the bias at noon and doesn't get nearly as gated with the bias increased. Definitely the best I've found so far. I feel like the clean up with the instrument volume is better now too. Maybe I'm perceiving a bit less low end but a minimal difference. It still brings the meat.
