Yes it is true! The new and improved Royal Overdrive is finally being released after a long hiatus! After over 4 years of research and development, several new improvements of the Royal Overdrive have been incorporated in its design. In addition to its usual tonal characteristics, here are the improvements made in the new design:

Faster on/off switching
- Lower power consumption - 18V@200mA
- Smaller Footprint
- Lighter than half of its original weight
- Hand wired metal Switchcraft jacks
-Sounds just as good as the first version!

BOLD-RED emphasis on that last item is mine


You'd think they'd make it sound BETTER than the original, or maybe word it a bit differently to say even with the assorted changes it still has the same great sound.

Aye dunno, "Sounds just as good as the first version!" seems a weak attempt at assurance that the sound hasn't changed for the worse.

MIND, the quoted text is from a retail shop, not the builder of the pedals. So take that, and my saltiness, with a grain of salt.

"ROI" — or better yet "RROI" ie Robert's Return On Investment (time spent de-gooping, money spent upgrading to a new layout tier to accommodate the size of the board, time spent tracing, time spent on laying out, time spent on testing prototype boards, time spent on revisions, money spent on new prototype-boards, time spent testing the new boards... did I mention time spent? Money spent?)

Shouldn't they wait till you release the degooped PedalPCB board so they can go "ahha it's not quite the right trace AND we improved it anyway so I fart in your general direction" or whatever they say?

No one ever bothered to wait before, so....

You can't let a little thing like not having a schematic or BOM deter you from claiming a PCB is incorrect.

I understand the superdrive came to be in about 2005/2006 so it may very well be.
To be clear, thus ain't mine, but from a friend with a huge boutique/vintage collection.
I serviced some of his pedalsn amps and guitars for him, and sometimes I have the privilege to take home some interesting stuff to try out

They are amazing pedals.
Even set at low gain, this pedals sustains single notes for days.
