Third Man x JHS troika delay?

CheapSuitG

The TubeSchemer
This was released today.

Interesting concept, could be useful for recording. I’m a Jack White fan boy and will probably get it.

No 48v phantom which I assume is for cost savings.

Thoughts?

Just watched the full video.

Some glaring mistakes IMO, can be modded but design fail.

Internal switches for mic/instrument, reverb tails on/off and gain.

Ooof.

Eh, kinda neat. Seems like a decent unit for when you want delay on a mic without the hassle of doing vocal effects chain with line/instrument converters or a Pigtronix Keymaster. While it’s not the most exciting thing ever, I’d build one if Robert release a PCB for it just so I can have quick access to delay for when I mic up my talkbox

"The bypass switch is above the sliders to keep it out of the way of on-the-fly adjusting."

Not because the footswitch wouldn't fit at the bottom of that enclosure? Doesn't look terribly ergonomic to me!

Saw a band (The Wameki) last night where the vocalist just plugged a mic into a guitar delay pedal. It worked fine and they rocked harder and were more punk than Jack White ever did or was. Although, FWIW, I'd build a PPCB that had the same concept, because singers that move around a lot would probably benefit from a low profile, low complexity pedal situation.

I think the taptempo/oscillation switch in my DOD Rubberneck would be enough control for vocals as well.

Maybe the tempo switch (Rubbernecking) would be fun as well.

That’s hilarious. Looks like a typical Jack White backwards design. “On the fly” tweaking is more important than turning the pedal on and off properly without kicking the sliders? Riiiiiiight 😂 Not the best design choice imo.
