Bassifying a Muff

Bump for Gran Verde doc!

I need to post it... but I had to give it some time and really listen. In the end, what I have been using is two different CMC Muffs. One is a tall font with Mids with the coupling caps replaced for 180n and LEDs (green/clear) in both sets of clippers. I am also using a Violet Rams head with Mids that has coupling caps replaced for 180n and LEDs (green/clear) in both sets of clippers AND C2, C5, and C8 at 430 (civil war specs). Both are great on bass... the ram's head is a little grainier and gainier and the TFR is a little more overdrivey. I can't pick one so I keep both flavors.

Basically, I think my favorite version is a Violet Ram's Head with Civil War Caps and LED's (green or yellow) in both stages with a Mids knob.

Just pulled out an old green russian build and decided to have do a little work on it based on what I've been liking with other builds:
1) Pulled the 2nd set of diodes and subbed in green LEDs
2) Changed the tone stack to "flat" mids per this info from coda: Flat mids: R5: 22k, R8: 39k, C8: 0.01uF, C9: 0.01uF (408 / 723 Hz)

Sounds great on bass. I have futzed around with this circuit endlessly, but these two mods seem to make for the simplest and most robust bass muff. No switches or extra knobs, just the original three. Also, adding flat mids really interacts nicely with the fuzz and the tone to make it all pop and smooth out nicely.
