Very cool sounding fuzz but there's some strange fizz/fuzz/distortion going on underneath

You can hear it well in the recording, there's a background distortion that decays earlier than the rest.
With BIAS cranked around 3 o clock, it's barely noticeable (near the end of the recording) but anything below that, you can clearly hear it
Question for those who built it, is it normal behaviour?

That definitely sounds familiar.

I eventually gave up and read the manual - not something I expect to have to do with a fuzz pedal, but it helped to understand the controls a little better. I also watched a bunch of demos and got some good non-intuitive suggestions for knob settings.

There are two stages with some separate controls. I ended up trying to think of it like it was two pedals in one box.

With some settings, it really sounds like there are two different effects, pretty cool actually

And I did read the manual as well, it's useful indeed
