Conqueror

Hi all, I am building a conqueror fuzz for a friend. Having a bit of an issue finding the BC548. Is there a sub NPN that will sound the same? Would the BC548b be fine? Or something else that is closer? Is this just a jellybean type and any simple NPN type will be okay? BC547, BC549, 2N2222, 2N3904, BC550. Just trying not to order from so many places.

And for the Fasel inductor, I am looking at the Dunlop red for $20 and the ME6 from stomp boxes $7.50. https://stompboxparts.com/transform...ctor-me-6/?searchid=950271&search_query=Fasel

Any real difference in the sound? Or which would match the original the closest?

Thanks for any replies.

grain of salt: I've not built mine yet, but...

Any of those would work. I'd tend to go for BC549, as it is low noise. Then again the BC548b might be just the ticket for bass, assuming that the original spec is for BC548c (tiny-bit higher hFE).

Install sockets, audition transistors while minding the pinout of each and when you've found the chosen ones, solder them into the sockets to appease the socket-haters (as opposed to removing the sockets and lifting a trace or pad — or just breadboard the whole schebang).

I don't know what was originally in the Conqueror, but

Dunlop RED FASEL: 563mH / 17.5 ohms
ME6: 570mH (+/- 10%) @ 1kHz, .3v

I like the ME6 a lot. Great value for money, have it in a fixed wah pedal.
I have a Red Fasel, too, but as mentioned, haven't built my Conqueror yet.
