Reminds me of this place my wife and I went to in Nambung WA (Australia) we went on a three week trip from the top of WA (Exmouth) back to Perth, stopped here for the visit, and got rained on. I was absolutely soaked because wer were going to the desert, I didn't even pack a rain jacket.



We also stopped at this town (Carnarvon) with an immense dry river bed, strangest thing I'd ever seem. We stopped and walked across it, felt like forever (maybe it was just 36°)
Apparently it had gotten to 7 metres in 2000



If I continue to work backwards chronologically on this trip, which I find hilarious while typing this, this is Emu maurading the town of Exmouth. We'd stopped at a visitor centre to check it out and to fill our water, the Emu apparently had the same idea. They then went in a pack of 3-5 and started walking to the local camp ground, this was maybe 10am so the campground had mostly been deserted. We walked back past it to our accommodation maybe 30mins later and the Emu had started picking through all the campers unattended food and scraps. I sided with them.

Emus are hilarious! My dad once had a ice cream stolen from him by an emu. He was holding it behind his back to stop an intrusive emu from getting it and another came up behind and nabbed it.

A few years ago I was in a 4WD somewhere past Wiluna in Western Australia (ie middle of bloody nowhere!) with a geologist looking for uranium (I found a little bit) and while driving through scrub drove through a flock of emus. For no particular reason they all started running alongside the car. I was sitting in the passenger eye to eye with a determined emu. This always seems to happen. Whether you're on a train or in a car they start running alongside until they get too tried to run any more.

That land under the bridge is the Gasgoyne river. Last time I was in Carnarvon it was a series of small puddles. In the wet season it can get busy though.

Are you sure that's limestone? Looks like granite to me.

@Chuck D. Bones yup limestone and yes just been over the hill to Christchurch and back.
Castle hill is about 1hour 15min drive from our place.

I ran 20k this morning, came home and mowed my lawn (not huge but split over 3 terraced levels. The wife is out with the car and there's no lunch planned. Guess it's back to an old favorite.

Protein, electrolytes and carbs.

Oh and I'm eating it outside, my wife says I'm not allowed to eat sardines inside, she has the nose of a witch.
