Favorite Russian D9# diodes

I always like to remind people who are testing these with a TC-1 type thing or even a DCA55 -They'll show a much higher Vf than you expect due to testing conditions. Let's say you pick up some Ge diodes that are typically ~.30Vf; if you test with a TC-1, LCR-P1, or the Peak 55, the Vf may be closer to what you expect of a silicon diode. If you test it with pretty much any multimeter it'll show the lower, "expected" Vf reading due to different testing conditions. The DCA75 is cool since you're able to graph it and see what's goin' on! I'll upgrade from the 55 someday.

When using them for hard clipping I've found Schottky diodes to be virtually indistinguishable if the Vf is roughly the same. I usually stick with boring old Si in most situations though!
