SOLVED Duo-Phase Ticking (mainly when left side is engaged)

I might be wrong but it looks like the shield for the in/out wires isn't grounded. You might try grounding the shield on at least one end of each run. Usually the signal source side of you're only grounding one end to avoid ground loops. The sleeve lug on the input jack and the ground pad on the...

    Reputable source for LM308N?

Nevermind I'm wrong. I read it incorrectly at least 4 times in a row. It's the LM3080N. Thanks for catching it. Time for new glasses.

    Reputable source for LM308N?

The BOM says LM308N. It's the GCI 6 knob compressor designed by the guy from Dunwich amps. I like the Dunwich fuzz pedals and thought it was strange to have the rat opamp in a compressor which is why I was intrigued.

    Kewpie Fuzz

Smooth build, nice layout, easy to fit everything. C8 and C13 said NP next to them which I interpreted as "NonPolarized" so I used tantalums because that's what I had in the appropriate value. I socketed the transistors and tried SE4001's and SE4010's from my local "can't believe it's still in...

    Reputable source for LM308N?

I was looking for some for a possible compressor project and Tube Depot has them in stock for $9.95, kinda steep but if you only need one and want it to be the real deal it's ok I guess

    Soldering Mat

The loose threads are a key feature, great for snagging on clipped leads and sticking to flux residue.

    Soldering Mat

I'm the only one using an old bath towel? Mostly just leftover from when I was doing lots of vintage hifi restoration, needed something to prevent scratching the finish on xformers/front/side panels while working on an amp. But now I solder PCB's on it because it's on the bench with the...

NSFW Muffinator and NSFM(usic) EAE Beholder

The Muffinator build went great, violet ram's head specs with Fairchild SE4010's and a tone bypass outlined by @Feral Feline here. Straightforward build, the guide for the tone bypass was great, all I did was lower the value of the bypass resistor to give a volume boost with the tone bypass...

    Missing Build Docs / Schematics

I deleted the guesswork drill guide I made for the Muffinator. I made everything fit, but several of my "measurements" were off. Figured it was better to take down the post and not lead others astray.

The Space Between Us - Super Heterodyne Receiver build (Tayda UV)

Nice idea! and Great build to the OP. I really like the use of what I assume is a gloss layer for the embossed looking parts. I might try the cap mod on my Octarock for playing lower down the neck for bass lines.

    Rat Circuit Recommendation?

I recently built a 2 in 1 klone into rat using the Madbean Slow Loris board for the rat side because I wanted easy onboard clipping toggle. I have also built the Muroidea, and the Synthrotek Ratatat. The sound differences between the 3 are negligible, even with NOS 308 in the ppcb and synthro...

    Tube Amp recommendations

I've got an Epiphone Valve Jr combo that I bought in the early 2000's and I've done many mods: Master volume with treble bleed, Bright/Dark or High/Low input cap toggle, bigger Nichicon power filter caps, Hammond 125ESE output transformer, 4, 8, 16ohm speaker taps, orange drop coupling caps, and...

Where Do I Get Components For IO Board?

Amazon is crazy in that way, I have a coffee shop and our wholesale price on some coffee supplies is higher than the retail price on amazon. Amazon as well as 3rd party seller companies with piles of cash(or more likely credit) and a warehouse are able to buy in such bulk that they're paying...

SOLVED Madbean Slow Loris - no sound

Correct value resistors fixed everything. This was supposed to be sort of a joke build for a friend, a Klon into a Rat, just stuff we used to talk about at work. I spent way more time on in than intended, but it actually turned out to be a decent and possibly useful pedal. Thanks for all the...

Harmonic Percolator - Suggestions On Choosing A Version?

My first pedal build was a FuzzDog Karama Suture Ge, with a NOS gold lead 2N404, still use it on occasion but prefer regular fuzz mostly. It can do a nice sounding Ge boost without much grit. It also does pickup RF at high gain. Edit: here's the song that inspired me to build an HP-alike, jump...

Where Do I Get Components For IO Board?

Some here, A bunch on Amazon, also Ebay. PedalPCB almost exclusively sells bare PCB's rather than kits.

SOLVED Madbean Slow Loris - no sound

I did use jacks alligator clipped to the contacts for power and audio jacks for testing, but I missed the wrong resistor values. Time to stop trusting that the labeled bags of resistors from Tayda are correct and start checking color codes. Thanks for all the help. I'm going to verify all the...

SOLVED Madbean Slow Loris - no sound

Great idea, thank you, I will give this a shot. Are there any most likely culprits for the IC voltages being so far off?
