    XC Phase Pop

No, I think it might just be a bum switch, but I might try that. Honestly, I was kind of disappointed about the pop when I first built it, but it sounds so good in the 4 stages mode, that I'll probably never throw that switch. Even if I do, I can just turn the pedal off -- throw the switch --...

    XC Phase Pop

Thanks, this is helpful. I didn't see this thread when I posted this originally. Interesting though, most of the folks in that thread are complaining about a loud pop when the switch between block and script. I don't have that problem. The pop only happens when switching between 2 and 4 stages.

    XC Phase Pop

I used the TLO22 on IC1 (at least I think the top one is IC1 without looking at the build docs).

    What's on the workbench?

I got all excited when I saw that @Robert was giving these away with a board order, so I rushed out (okay, maybe three weeks later) and ordered some new boards (that I'm never going to get around to building -- at least not until the parts for the aren't available anymore) in hopes that I would...

    Diode 1N4678 replacement

If you know what you're looking for and can find it on Mouser, their parts are quality. You really can't go wrong with Mouser or Digikey. My biggest frustration with them is that once a part is obsolete or out of production, they become unavailable pretty quickly, and it isn't always easy to...

Cable for Guitar & Speaker Cabinets

Yeah, I wasn't trying to get political or associate a particular cause to any of this. I was just saying that I have witnessed prices going up. I know there is a whole geo-political tapestry underpinning it, but I wasn't trying to get into all of that. I was just saying that my wallet is...

    Diode 1N4678 replacement

Yep, as @Cybercow said, you should be good with a 1N6479 without any audible difference. However, since this is just a clipping diode, feel free to experiment. There isn't a wrong answer. You can sub out pretty much any diode. The results may be different, but you might just like them.

DEMO A demo for April Autism Awareness month

My sister adopted a baby girl who had microcephaly. At the time, they told her that it could be corrected with surgery, but that wasn't true. I know it's not the same as autism, but the struggles are the same, and I totally appreciate anybody who has to face these challenges. I've seen how...

    Help identifying this schematic symbol/part?

Okay, give me a couple of weeks to get through all of this... Oh damn, now I know why you gave up. Ummmm, good luck with that! Just messing with you -- let's tackle this!

    Help identifying this schematic symbol/part?

Somehow, I don't believe that. I think you aren't giving yourself enough credit.

Pedal companies that also sell pcbs/kits? (Frost Giant, EAE, Catalinbread,GCI)

Not a Klon by JHS? I realize it's not exactly a pcb, but just saying. And yes, I've see a few from Catlinbread and MAS...

SOLVED I’m the worst. Lot lizard

It works for what it does. I don't think the TC-1 was too expensive, and I have found it helpful in a lot of situations. I really want to upgrade to a DCA 75 from my DCA 55. I want to be able to match fets, but I don't feel like the 55 is capable of that.

    First build ADHD

Love this, and kudos for squeezing a battery in there. I love this build and I love this circuit -- this circuit is the reason I got in to building pedals.

SOLVED I’m the worst. Lot lizard

Yeah, I have a TC-1 too. I just don't know enough to know what a good reading is for a given part.

SOLVED I’m the worst. Lot lizard

LEDs are literally the easiest components to test. So long as you have them hooked up in the right direction and you have a CLR in series with them -- they literally light up when they test correctly. :)

SOLVED I’m the worst. Lot lizard

I have a DC-55 that could probably tell me if it's a PNP vs an NPN and stuff like that but in reality, I can't tell a fake from a real one until it doesn't work.

SOLVED I’m the worst. Lot lizard

I'm always paranoid about transistors. I used to buy them from Amazon, and I've gotten so may bad/fake ones that I almost never solder them in anymore -- I always socket them. However, I've had a lot of bad luck socketing transistors -- the machined sockets can sometimes grab the legs, but...

Component Testing Is Breaking My Brain

I have a TC-1, a DC-55, a DMM -- none of them are perfect, but they all serve a purpose. One thing I never do though is compare apples to oranges. If I'm using one meter to measure hfe, for example, I stick to that meter. Sure there are some meters that can measure a lot of different...

Cable for Guitar & Speaker Cabinets

I actually had to do the opposite once. Didn't have an instrument cable to plug in my bass, but I did have a speaker cable, which worked, but not exactly ideal. I think I got lucky that I was in a low rf environment.

Cable for Guitar & Speaker Cabinets

This is true, and keep in mind that speaker cable isn't like instrument cable in the sense that it is already carrying a signal that is going to be amplified by a circuit -- with a speaker cable, what is on that cable is what you have. With an instrument cable, you're plugging that into a...
