Omit rate LED in moonshot tremolo?

I'm not really a fan of drilling enclosures and have been looking for a tremolo to build that I can use a Tayda pre-drilled with. The Moonshot tremolo fits the bill as long as I omit the rate LED. I'm assuming it's fine, but just double checking that doing this wouldn't disrupt the circuit...

Which soldering iron do you like?

I've been using my wife's curling iron. Takes about 45 minutes to get to temp but it's great if you don't care if a pedal works or not EDIT: On a serious note, I use a Hakko FX888d. Great tool. I don't understand people's issue with setting the temp, it's super simple and the most commonly...

    Question about op amp function

So I've built both a Van Pelt Drive and a Thermionic distortion. I put them on the Auditorium test board yesterday and discovered something new to me (there's lots new to me, I'm fairly new to this still). I tired the Van Pelt first and thought it sounded great. Then I tried the Thermionic -...

    Caesar chorus ticking

I'm a beginner so just know this is some wisdom I came across while doing research on my failed build of the Caesar. It's still sitting in a shit pile waiting to be revived some day. But what I did stumble across was that for ticking it helps a lot to move the 2 long wires that connect the...

Creative use of Tayda Pre-Drilled enclosures?

Yep, I've been learning just now flexible the PPCB designs and the pre-drilled enclosures are. I've been able to fit a Duck Box into a 3 hole and a Tommy III into a 5 hole. Super convenient!

Creative use of Tayda Pre-Drilled enclosures?

Yeah I like that option as well. I recently used some templates from here for them to drill me enclosures for the Caesar and XC Phase. Both enclosures were great. The XC Phase turned out awesome, the Caesar is in currently in a troubleshoot somewhere down the road pile lol

Please explain bad traces to me

This is kinda what I was wondering in terms of how common this is. It seems factory flaw is the exception and user error is the rule. Visually would it always be fairly obvious that something isn't right? Or can the (rare) flaw be under the board unseen? The examples in the videos shared...

Please explain bad traces to me

Ok, thanks for the picture example! So a bad trace is the copper "path" from one pad to the next? Or a bad trace is the pad itself? How does one correctly jumper these? And are these somewhat common?

Please explain bad traces to me

On a few occasions I've come across people here saying a board had a bad trace and only once jumping that component to the next one did it work. Is this a result of a faulty board from the factory or something the user caused? How do you find them? Only by audio/continuity probing? How...

1P2T mini slide switch (Tommy III)

Was it ever confirmed if these from Tayda work with the Tommy III? Just a little concerned because it calls for SPDT and the Tayda one is labeled as 1P2T.

I/O and DC jack enclosure contact

I have a very amateur question regarding something I recall reading in passing a while back concerning paint + rough edges inside of enclosures. I recall reading that when you have for example a pre-drilled and powder coat painted enclosure from Tayda that the little bit of paint residue and...

    Yet another Caesar Chorus problem

I decided to lay this one to rest. I tried all the trouble shooting I knew how. I checked every component value and they were good, I went over both sides of the PCB with a magnifying glass and light 3 times. I ended up finding one suspicious contact between one of the red LEDs and the...

    Yet another Caesar Chorus problem

Ok thank you, it's a start. I was hoping to avoid uncasing the board, but I really want this thing to work. I've already decided going forward I'll be building Sea Horses due to parts availability, but I refuse to let this one go to the graveyard lol

    Yet another Caesar Chorus problem

I'm occasionally strumming the guitar. You hear the clean bypass signal right at the beginning and then I turn the effect on. I strum the guitar every few seconds but you either hear nothing, fuzz, or the crazy squealy siren

    Yet another Caesar Chorus problem

I'll look into these things, thank you! I spent all afternoon trouble shooting as many things as possible that don't require pulling the board out of the enclosure so I didn't have time to make an account on a photo hosting site to be able to post pictures here. But I do have a YT account and...
