    Binder for PCB storage

Not really. But I have populated 20 boards and can't be bothered to order and drill the enclosures and turn them into pedals I'll never use.

    Making Starboard Fuzz Louder?...

The original Germanium Fuzzrite used a C pot for Depth. The blend is more natural that way.

Well yours is 900 Fuzz, not ~900 😀

    Nein Fuzz problems

Build report incoming? With demo compared to the original? I have a board but not a Peak, just a TC1 tester. I can't test all those parameters for the J201s

DEMO Fuzz Face (MP38A NPN Ge) [perf/wood]

Whoa that's a dark tone. The kind that disappears on stage :) Pretty strange that you couldn't get cleanup with non leaky transistors. You sure the voltages were in the ballpark? Low voltage and leakage usually gates and cleans up less (but sounds cool). I go as low as 3V on Q2c, like Eric...

Installing a fuzz in a jazzmaster

You could try and hit up Joe Gore for tips on this. He has put his Cult Germanium circuit (a modified Rangemaster, I believe) in some of his guitars. I'm sure he'll help you out if he can. Contact him on TheGearPage.

Scratch That. It's regular spacing. I checked my Jazzmaster

Installing a fuzz in a jazzmaster

Is this a J Mascis JM that you stripped? The vibrato plate looks to be closer to the bridge than normal.

Installing a fuzz in a jazzmaster

But that's a Fuzz Face, or rather a One Knob fuzz, not a Copper Clad fuzz (which is a Golden Fleece by Mythos, which is an Elektra)

Installing a fuzz in a jazzmaster

I don't know where you put a trim pot. It's not part of the circuit. And there is only Q1. I buily mine stock. Anyway Increase the resistance between VCC and the collector to lower the voltage.

Installing a fuzz in a jazzmaster

Yes, first component in the circuit and going to ground. It just takes some high end off, including radio and hiss, if you have them. It won't solve your popping issue, however.

    FNIRSI DSO-TC4

FYI those Chinese transistors seem to all have those useless specs for everybody who has bought them, regardless of which tester they used. Way too much leakage.

Installing a fuzz in a jazzmaster

I would add a small cap from input to ground, 1n or so, to get rid of the radio signals and hiss this circuit tends to pick up.

    3AX31C Germanium gain

I use a TC1 tester and it has served me well. The RG Keen method works better if you rig it up but I decided it wasn't worth it for all the junk parts I buy :)

    3AX31C Germanium gain

The leakage is off the chart for all of them. In line with my experience when I bought a batch of these transistors. Unusable, I would say. I consider low leakage any value below 100uA. For circuits that require leakage, I would go 100-300uA. Above that usually sounds noisy and overall bad...

breadboarding (tone bender MkII, MkI, fuzz face, big muff)

Here you go. Strat, neck+middle, Dunlop JFD2 Ge Fuzz Face, first in phase then out of phase. Crappy playing and room phone recording.

Ludicrous, huh? It's all fun and games until it melts your face. I'll see if I can record a quickie this week.
